The problem of Whatsapp #history in #India
This is a good article.
The propagation of fake & distorted history through #whatsapp is a major political agenda of the #rightwing #hindutva groups.
The academic historians are not able to counter this is a valid argument, given that their works are not easy for common people to comprehend.
Similar to the #PopluarScience culture which helped bridge the gap between hard science and make it palatable for common people, India need a #PopularHistory culture to be created, which only can counter this problem.

So glad I could attend virtually the book launch for “Scotland's Transnational Heritage: Legacies of Empire, Trade and Slavery”. Insightful speakers and a very lively discussion about many issues related to this important topic. I’ve ordered me a copy of the book. https://edinburghuniversitypress.com/book-scotland-s-transnational-heritage.html #ScottishHistory #Scotland #Slavery #SlaveryHistory #BlackHistory #Empire #Colonialism #Museums #MuseumStudies #PopularHistory #PublicHistory #Books #BookLaunch #AcademicHistory #History #Heritage #Trade

Excited to be joining #SearchlightArchive's Time and Emotion workshop this December! I'll be discussing the role of #Malaysia's #farright in #popularhistory making and its consequences for #publicmemory.
My contribution will be based on notes and observations from 2017-present, and my intent is to push the discursive frontiers of far-right research to include perspectives from beyond the 'West' i.e. #Malaysia, #Singapore and #SoutheastAsia. Looking forward :ablobcatrave: :ablobcatrave: !!

On that note, I'm excited to announce that I'll be joining #SearchlightArchive's Time and Emotion workshop at #NorthamptonUni to discuss the role of #Malaysia's far right in #popularhistory making and its consequences for public memory.
My contribution will be based on notes and observations from 2017-present, and my intent is to push the discursive frontiers of far-right research to include perspectives from beyond the 'West' i.e. MY, SG and the #SEA region. Looking forward :ablobcatrave:!

CW: Seeking a Book Reco
Ok. I've never done this in the bird app.
There ought to be a behaviour change in a new platform right? 😂
#history and #book folk, please recommend preferably a #LightRead / #PopularHistory or more accurately a #biography in #English of #Garibaldi please.
