I was put on cholesterol meds a few months ago although my levels are within normal limits.
I've noticed my BP has been quite high (for me) over the past few weeks.
I stopped the cholesterol meds as hypertension is a SE.
My BP is almost back to my normal.

Side effects of drugs aren't considered often enough. High BP is a huge stroke / heart attack risk.

The next step for my GP would be to put me on anti-hypertensives, with their myriad of side effects.

The focus on diseases followed by Schools of #Medicine is clearly in contrast with person-centred interventions. I do not exclude exceptions.

A few points:
- #Polypharmacy can be correct and justifiable, but should always raise alert
- 7 drugs at 70 or 6 at 60... Well... We can do better...
- Primary #prevention is independent of age

Given that older people are commonly overmedicated with medications that have no evidence; would it not be easier to conduct randomised controlled trials of selective deprescribing. At the same time person focused outcomes should be measured - those related to functional ability, cognition etc.
