With some species, one can determine their sex by looking at the clock in a phenomenon called temporal separation of the sexes.

These flowering types are transcriptionally regulated by divergent alleles of the floral transcription factor. These alleles occur in dozens of wild relatives of #avocado, defining a #polymorphism under long-term balancing selection for over 40 My.

Brown and white barn owls hunt differently in bright moonlight. White owls oriented attacks toward the moon in bright moonlight but not in dim conditions, supporting a hypothesis that they use their plumage to startle prey. Brown morphs did not show the same variation in preferences.

We’ve published our latest research on the conformational evolution of bicalutamide in chloroform using NMR spectroscopy. Associative equilibrium shifts drive conformational transitions, not the presence of a solid phase.
This work offers new insights into conformational polymorphism and the role of solvation and concentration in controlling molecular structure.
