Interesting behind-the-scenes clip for a recent #LinkinPark video. Doesn't go too deep into the #VFX but they were using what looks like the #polycam app to scan the meshes. For mo-cap, wonderdynamics.com seems to have been involved (they are showing that alien demo footage) but who knows if it was just used for on-set previz.

#Polycam can also generate #textures for #3D from a text prompt with #AI, this will be the future, and most likely it will also be possible to generate the other channels too, another disappearing sector of #CGI. #VFX #games #rendering

#Splatted the Christmas table using #Polycam and 185 photos. Came out surprisingly well - even the thin (~5mm) MDF reindeer have rendered which they didn’t with the LIDAR approach. Shame the web viewer is turgid slow with more lag than a container ship changing direction though (but that’s understandable atm.)

Added a 3D model of an osechi box (traditional Japanese New Year food) to #SketchFab! I scanned this from a box I bought from my supermarket last year while experimenting with photogrammetry and LIDAR with my phone (this is photogrammetry: LIDAR turned out to need a bigger object to scan well). I stitched the photos together with the #Polycam app and tidied up the result in #Blender3d. Then I ate my art. SketchFab link here: https://skfb.ly/oDIyr
