Wild #bees and other #pollinating insects exhibit remarkable species diversity in village environments, with minimally managed green spaces and fallow lands providing superior living conditions compared to heavily cultivated areas with abundant blooms.

Are there any flowers that Western honey bees avoid? My sister just got several hives and she is worried about the native bee population having nothing left to eat. I'd love to give her a list of plants to seek out for her property. In Central Oregon, so ideally drought-tolerant, too. Thanks for any ideas. #bees #honey #beekeeping #gardening #honeybees #entomology #flowers #apiary #apis #insect #pollinating #pollinators #oregon

#Forsythia are #ornamental #shrubs in Central #Europe that are originally native to #Asia. The shrubs planted in #parks in Germany are the hybrids Forsythia x #intermedia. It is a hybridization of the species F. suspensa and F. viridissima. As a result of €globalwarming, the flowering period in Central Europe is shifting further and further forward. The flowers are #sterile and therefore of no interest to #pollinating insects.

#Frogs as #Pollinators? https://blog.nature.org/2023/07/05/frogs-as-pollinators/
Between #fruits, #flowers and #nectar: The extraordinary diet of the #frog Xenohyla truncata https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S2352249623000101
"Nestled on a branch in the forests of #Brazil lives a frog that may well be helping #trees reproduce. It could be an inadvertent effort – the frog wants to sip nectar and covers its back with #pollen in the process – but if it is helping trees reproduce, it’s the first #pollinating frog ever recorded."

Early #spring #ephemerals are out in S. Quebec. I love to see the mix of colours from red (red trillium) to purplish-white (hepatica) to yellow (coltsfoot) & white (bloodroot).
#pollinating greater bee fly (Bombylius major) as an added bonus. -
