@[email protected] Many of the people scammed can't really afford to lose that money, or the emotional pressure to give more more more, or it's on their souls if their candidate loses.
Many of them are elderly, and shouldn't end up starving or unable to buy medication due to ignorance, stupidity, prejudice, racism, bigotry, or con artists.
So no.

@vor I don't know how to report it, and I'll wager that most of the people getting these don't either--but more than anything, these text hit on the need people have to do something, the not knowing what to do, then there's this text that promises them that if they only drop $10, the Biden will get $70, and once there'e enough money, well, that's the election won. So they donate, and they feel they did their bit, and with little to no effort.

@qurlyjoe I'll go one better and say that the vast majority of them are scams; most of them outright scams, but also some people running for local seats where there truly is no chance of moving the needle, but a blue candidate can get out-of-state money on the illusion that they can, and many people donating get a hit of dopamine that they're "doing all they can" while lining conpeople's pockets.

I wonder how much money is being scammed daily through political fundraising texts.
And I don't mean for the rump of toxic waste, I mean people texting things like "7X matching today, donate to Biden/Harris/whoever on a Democratic seat", and people rushing to drop money to for-sure-certain "defeat Trump" when they don't even know where the money is going and take no time to check, because it sounds good and it's one-click easy.
