CW: Auspol - Greens Messaging
The Liberal National Party is a coalition of three conservative parties that really don’t get along all that well with each other, and yet the coalition is considered by most to be “one” of the main two political parties in Australia.
The Greens continue their messaging of striving to be part of a minority government with Labor.
The LNP have always been loudly critical of Labor “doing deals” with The Greens, prompting Labor to denounce The Greens every chance they get.
I really wish that The Greens would change up their messaging to striving for majority government and actually go for the top job. They run candidates in practically every electorate. They have a complete set of policies. They’ve had members in both houses for decades. If they stop telling everyone that their goal is clutching on to Labor’s coattails and start telling everyone that they’re ready to govern in their own right, I think they’d win more seats and have a real chance at becoming the opposition.
If the LNP were forced onto the backbenches, their coalition would crumble in an instant. They would be four separate parties, indistinguishable from ONP, KAP, and the other forgettable parties that would sit beside them.
The LNP would be gone forever. The Greens would be the Progressive Left and Labor would be able to assume their rightful position as the conservative party of Australia.
