  1. Last tempo intervals session before Stockholm and things are looking up. Had a really good session today, pace up from last week at the same intensity although wearing my adidas pro4 might have a bearing on that #running #tempointervals #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  2. Stockholm half getting nearer and nearer. 60 minutes easy there and back run down my local canal plus a few strides to finish the workout #running #easyrunning #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  3. Last long run before Stockholm in two weeks and a very enjoyable 24km over roads, trails and canal paths. A good mornings workout #running #longrun #polarrunning #halfmarathontraining #runnersofmastodon

  4. Yesterday workout, vo2 max intervals. Started off with 20 minutes easy pace and a few strides to warm up then 4x5 minutes with 4 minutes rest and finishing the session with a 10 minute cool down jog #running #intervals #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  5. More tempo intervals today and a repeat of last week. 10 minutes warm up, 5x20 seconds strides and 3x15 minutes at upper end of zone 2 with 5 minutes recovery. #running #halfmarathontraining #tempointervals #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  6. 17 mile/27km long run was the plan for today and definitely out of my comfort zone for this one. Run went relatively ok, had to resort to some jeffing to keep hr down and ended up pausing for a drink after 14 miles then needed to walk to recover a bit before the end #running #longrun #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  7. First proper intervals session my coach as planned for me. The brief was a 20 minute warm up progressing through zones 1 and 2, 6×20 seconds technique threshold reps then the main part, 5×4 minutes at 3k pace. I haven’t ran that distance all out for a good while but going off my last 5k the other week, I feel I just about got there. Hr, pace and distance covered all nice and consistent too. #running #vo2max #intervals #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  8. today’s scheduled workout session was 3x15 minutes at the upper end of hr zone 2 with 5 minutes rest, hopefully my half marathon pace. Started off with 10 minutes warm then a few strides before the main event. #running #tempointervals #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  9. Got myself a coach and first run of the new block was a 60 minute easy pace run plus a few strides to finish off #running #easyrunning #strides #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  10. Another Saturday long run and 80+ minutes ran split into 4km easy effort and 7km tempo effort. For once everything dropped in place today, heart rate, pace and breathing felt as one #running #halfmarathontraining #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  11. Ran the Media City 5k race organised by RunThrough UK last night and completed the course in a very respectable 27.21 minutes. Considering this is the first time I’ve raced this distance for two years and to run in a time like that is very encouraging #running #5krace #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  12. A frustrating run this morning. Had it in my head to stick rigidly to my zone 2 limits and ended up walking about 16 times to keep in said zone #running #8krun #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  13. A short long run today, just out for a little over 60 minutes with some half marathon pace tempo running included in the 8k main workout. A little harder than I would have liked but had a tight chest this morning so breathing not at its best #running #halfmarathonpace #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  14. Half marathon training for Stockholm continues with a short 3k run plus a few 500m reps with 200m pickups #running #halfmarathontraining #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  15. Tatton Park 10k this morning and another sub 60 minutes run (chip time 58:57) First 5k ok second about 2 minutes slower with a heavy incline between 4-6 km but managed to finish strong #running #10krace #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  16. Another day another hot one so a slow jog round trying my best to keep in zone 2 which was quite a feat at 27°C but job done and another one ticked off #running #aerobicrunning #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  17. 2 x 15 minute intervals at lunchtime, not the best plan especially when the temp is 26°C but that’s the only time spare to go. 15 minutes warm up then on with the action. Main aim was to keep in hr zone 3 which tbh was a struggle so trying to keep to a pace was out of the question #running #tempointervals #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  18. Two runs for the price of one today. Had to split my long run into two as my chest strap played up again. 5km zone 2 and 6.5km zone 3. Plenty stops, walk breaks and fluids taken due to the hot weather so today was more about running with hr and rpe than pace #running #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  19. Tuesday intervals and 3x10 minutes in tempo zone with 3 minutes jog recovery. 15 minutes warm up then a short rest then into the workout, had to adjust pace to keep hr in zone 3 as there were a few ups and downs on the route chosen but on the whole a good day’s workout #running #tempointervals #halfmarathontraining #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  20. Half marathon training block continues for Stockholm, feeling a lot better today and an hour easy run this dinner time. Made a conscious effort to keep in zone 2 as much as possible so wasn’t bothered about pace. #running #halfmarathontraining #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  21. Today’s run was not the best I’ve ran tbh, struggled to keep in zone 2 without resorting to a lot of stops and walking. Glad its over and can start again in a day or two #running #slowrun #10krun #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  22. Met up last night for our monthly social run organised by our local craft beer pub. Another well organised 5k with the bonus of a beer afterwards #running #socialrun #5krun #polarrunning #beeroclock #runnersofmastodon

  23. Intervals day again and some tempo repeats, 3x8 minutes with 3 minutes rest. Pace ok but hr into threshold towards the end of the reps although where I run for these type of runs is in a dip and rises towards the end so have to compensate with allowing hr to rise or pace to drop #running #Intervaltraining #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  24. Hell of a busy day today, an important video call this morning and an appointment later on so this run was a much needed one. One huge bonus though I got my confirmation email that my application to run Tokyo Legacy Half has been accepted #running #easyrunning #cathartic #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  25. And first run with new watch, a supposedly zone 2 run but just about managed to average aerobic threshold for the run but mhr about 7-8 beats up #running #longrun #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon

  26. Thought I’d have a go at the “Norwegian Method” today, 4x4 minutes with 3 minutes jog recovery. Happy with the effort put in and averaging 4:41 min/km will be a good benchmark to start with #running #4x4minutes #intervaltraining #polarrunning #norwegianmethod #runnersofmastodon #RunningCommunity

  27. Got some recommendations from last weekend’s threshold tests. As LT1 is on the lower side it was suggested I concentrate on base building again so running with a hr of 139 bpm or less. Exercise today was to run until heart rate exceeded LT1 #treadmillrunning #running #aerobicbasebuilding #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon
