Happy to announce the 0.18 release of Poezio, a terminal XMPP messaging client.

This new release brings better compatibility with python 3.15, Message Retraction support, a new way of showing or hiding groupchat presences, and a lot of typing!

Some nice bugfixes (thanks @ge0rg for testing), and finally handling of message moderation & retraction.

for some reason #profanity makes an c abort when I try to connect to #disroot xmpp server. I thought that it was the server because #disroot hahaha but I noticed that is profanity aborts for some reason. I don't know and honestly I don't want to deep it in for the moment, probably is a good opportunty to try #poezio now that they fixed the omemo dependencies issues.

Man, I was actually quite happy with #poezio as my terminal-based #XMPP client, but after asking in their help chat it turns out that while OMEMO support is listed as a feature, it does not on itself support it. Such a sad start of the weekend 😭

@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] Gajim's entire design is different from what I'd want for a perfect client. It's acceptable because I hadn't found anything better. This thread has caused someone to tell me about #poezio, though, and that seems to align with my desires much more, so that is what I will be using for a few weeks to see if it tickles me in the right way.
