  4. Free

    A free and boundless mindFrom the chains of thoughts pulling behind,The dark past making way difficult to find,I have no reasons for it to rewind. I also do not wish to own,Ever changing faces not known,The manipulative feelings not shown,And the true relations not grown. The way I think, it never leadsTo the greedy illusioned needs,Rather the goodness which feedsA kind of evil manifested seeds. I believe that wherever I go,A brighter part I have to show,As the inspiring thoughts […]

  5. Painted Poppies and Poesy

    Poppies, like many flowers and herbs, are beneficial to the world of medicine, but poppies appeal to me because they are survivors and symbolise life, hope, and flexibility. The immense devastation on the battlefields in the northern region of Belgium in the 1st World War left 55,500 British soldiers, as well as tens of thousands of German, French, and Belgian troops, unaccounted for - their remains still buried in the Fields of Flanders. I penned the poem 'Poppies Remember', which […]

  7. Black cats. Sidewalk cracks. A poem stitched from five others.
    It’s Mashup Monday.

    See how superstition mingles with logic.

  8. Thorns. (May 2022)

    Leafing through my drafts in search of something that fits the mood, I found this cryptic little oddity. No fresh words for now, need to think through some things; but from the bottom of the drawer is fine, too.

    Another night. Another poem I end up writing about you. Spilled ink on the paper. Spilling my heart out all these pages.

  10. The Splendour of Rabbits

    Let us sing
    The splendour of rabbits,
    With their fur of five colours
    As soft as silk velvet;
    With the leap of an antlered stag
    And as fleet of foot;
    As furtive as Oberon
    And as wayward as Puck;
    Yet with the gentle, large eyes
    Of a Madonna painted upon gold.

  11. The Quietude of Chollas

    How quietly
    The chollas watch the morning;
    Their tumbled elf locks
    Glow bright yellow
    Against the rain-dark gray
    Of the winter clouds.
    A few drops fall gently;
    The chollas smile shyly.

  12. Sonnet for a Night of Solstice

    At midnight, how I saw the mighty Bear
    Uplift by ancient pillars of pale green
    Saguaros, slender columns scarcely seen
    Where nightbound earth touches the nightbound air.
    And the saguaros raise the stars to where
    They ramp across the midnight’s somber sheen
    To hang upon the solstice like a screen
    Behind the night and day....

  13. Only a brush of white on the peaks now,
    The rest of the mountains are brown;
    The peaceful clouds look over the brow
    Like a flock of sheep looking down.

    The sky is bluer than summer days are;
    The valley is almost green,
    For the sheep came grazing from seas afar
    Though nothing of ocean is seen.
