This week's #ResearchRabbitHole was the Arikara War, an 1823 conflict that is new to me despite decades of US history research. Naturally, I had to get a new book. What research rabbit holes have you gone down this week? Share in the comments! #history #POTUS #PodcastingLife

Taking you behind the scenes here at Presidencies HQ, my better half is a good sport about my using our kitchen table when I need space to spread out for research. Thus, we live with stacks of books in the kitchen (including hidden books for upcoming interviews). #PodcastingLife

Can you tell I'm working on researching a new episode where we'll get caught up on where things stand in other parts of the Western Hemisphere at the beginning of Monroe's presidency? 📚 #podcastinglife #research #history

What do you mean everyone doesn't do a deep dive into Monroe's first inaugural address while recovering from a procedure? Could've sworn that was one of the recommended activities! #history #POTUS #Monroe #PodcastingLife https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/node/206322

Your friendly neighborhood podcaster delivered a talk virtually to a group in MA this evening on Dolley Madison. Fantastic group of folks with a passion for learning more about this fascinating, complex First Lady. So grateful for the experience! #FLOTUS #history #PodcastingLife

After a long week, it's been nice to settle in with a cocktail and dive into reading for the podcast. Researching Van Buren for the Vice Presidencies series, however, means revisiting some past reads to corroborate facts. #podcastinglife #history #VPOTUS #POTUS #VanBuren 📚

A dear friend of the podcast, knowing my fascination with William Henry Harrison, sent me this gift recently. Having so affirmation of and support for my passion for US presidential history is truly the greatest gift of all. Thanks so much, Tyler! #podcastinglife #history #POTUS

It is for podcast research, I promise! Presidents Monroe and Adams can attest the importance of what became Argentina and other South American republics in the politics of the Monroe era. #PodcastingLife #research 📚

I've had quite a few new ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reviews come in recently. Thank you so very much to everyone who has left one thus far - your kind words are truly appreciated! If you haven't already, it only takes a minute and is a big help. Thanks! #podcastinglife https://www.presidenciespodcast.com/reviews/

Saw a few familiar (and soon to be familiar) faces on my walk through Back Bay in Boston yesterday. #history #POTUS #podcastinglife #quicktrip

So as has previously happened with Wilkinson and John Randolph of Roanoke, a new figure is popping up everywhere in my research - Peter B Porter. He also gets a mention in the next episode which should be launching tomorrow. #PodcastingLife https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Buell_Porter

For any patrons who may not have seen it, I posted an update on what's been going on at Presidencies HQ. While it's much more convenient to have a dedicated biography on a historical figure covered in the podcast, the obscure ones let me flex my research muscles. I consulted this stack of books to come up with a nine-page outline for a patron-exclusive episode. #PodcastingLife 📚

Just learned that I made a few more Top 100 lists this week (and month)! To all who listen to the Presidencies Podcast on Goodpods, thank you so very much! If you haven't yet, I hope you'll give it a try. #PodcastingLife https://goodpods.com/podcasts/presidencies-of-the-united-states-88740

I love when my #Podcast guests RTFD and fill out the guest intake form well before the interview.

Another thing is that I don't have a proper desk at home (🤦🏻). I've got a flat in a Victorian building so we decided to go with the style and bought bureau instead of a normal desk (see the photo with my orange chair!). So I cannot use this microphone boom arm you mount on the desk and have to use a stand.

The results of my experimenting with a dynamic microphone were quite good after a few re-listening. Now I want Shure SM7B 😭 to replace my Shure SM58m. But probably I should buy Audio-Technica AT2040 to replace/supplement my AT2020 condenser? Or go for something completely different like Røde...
