#Children have borne the brunt of the #infections, making up >70% of confirmed cases. >80 children & adolescents have been hospitalized this year for complications like #pneumonia, which leaves patients gasping for air, & #brain swelling, which can cause lasting damage, including #blindness, #deafness & intellectual #disabilities. I behaved much the same way when I was 11 and had a mild case of pneumonia in the dead of winter.
As soon as the antibiotics started working and I had a flicker of energy again, I tried to convince my parents to let me go on a bike ride outside in the cold and snow. (No, they did not allow it. 😄)
