@homegrown @mediawiki @TiddlyWiki @bookstack @xwikiorg @FeatherWiki A few weeks ago i newfound PMWiki, which i suggest to look at. It's a sort of flatfile-Wiki, which stores its data in single files.
It doesn't need any database and is highly customizable. Although you can setup user-accounts, it follows sophisticated access-rules out-of-the-box for single files, groups of files or user-defined parts of the wiki.
Install, backup, restore or duplicate works just by (FTP-)filecopy - very simple and exactly what i was looking for.

Yesterday I was this close to getting rid of my #PmWiki instance at
https://nosycat.notimetoplay.org/ and replace it with a static site, but thought better of it. I don't want to give up yet, despite burnout and LLM crawlers. Close call though. -

Ab und zu schreibe ich Artikel für den Freundeskreis, bei denen es um technische Unterstützung oder Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe geht.
Bisher WriteFreely
Ein Blog erschien mir bisher sinnvoll und daher habe ich WriteFreely für mein Gedöns genutzt. Es föderiert und man nutzt einfach Markdown und kann sich auf den Text konzentrieren.
Das ist gleichzeizig ein Fluch, denn die Formatierung ist rudimentär und schon die Skalierung von Bildern eine Herausforderung.Nun PMWiki
Mal wieder bin ich auf der Suche nach Alternativen bei Wikis hängen geblieben und seit gestern nun ein großer Fan von PMWiki.Ein Vergleich desselben Artikels zum DUT auf WriteFreely und PMWiki zeigt die unterschiedlichen Möglichkeiten in der Darstellung. Ich finde dass WriteFreely deutlich hintenan steht und das ist auch mit viel CSS kaum aufzuholen.
Dank eines minimalistischen Themes wird die Wiki-Herkunft bei PMWiki gut kaschiert und daran werde ich noch weiter arbeiten.
Einfach und Leistungsfähig
Von der Einfachheit der Einrichtung und dem Konzept der Zugriffsregeln bin ich begeistert und habe die Auswahl des Wikis und dessen Einrichtung in zwei Artikeln beschrieben und dabei gleich meine Lernkurve verlängert.In direkter Konkurrenz war eigentlich nur noch DokuWiki, aber im Vergleich gefällt mir diese Konzeption besser.
Hier noch ein technischer Artikel über die Sicherung und Archivierung von eMails mithilfe des Thunderbird-Addons ImportExportTools, bei dem ich auch den Umgang mit Bildern üben konnte.

So okay, bardicperspiration.com is coming along nicely, but we're going to move webhosts soon. Moving is the perfect time to assess services and stuff and right now, we're rly looking into whether something other than Mediawiki would be better.
Basically, we find that Mediawiki is pretty oof at times. The documentation is def written for ppl who live code and computers (it's detailed in an unhelpful way) and some of the configuration stuff feels like it was an afterthought.

Can be used on shared host
Customizable look
Open Source
Still developed
Established (new is nice until the dev loses interest)We've seen mention of #Dokuwiki, #PmWiki, #wikijs, and #Bookstack, but we're willing to listen to good ideas!
Dickish reply guys ("just spend ur life learning #Mediawiki it is awesome) will be mercilessly roasted. It's a server rule.

@EBernard I have a website where I use #PmWiki and it has cookbook recipes that provide support for LaTeX. For example: https://www.math4wisdom.com/wiki/Exposition/20221122SpaceBuilders So that is a usage that's simply based on the Internet. I myself use Ubuntu but I suppose that's irrelevant. :)
