Stateside, I catch such things and #PMQ on #CSPAN , typically when Wednesday's session is re-run on Sundays, right about now, and I'm listening to King Charles' speech finding it quite odd in view of an explainer I heard a few days ago about #BlackRod and the bit he plays in the ceremony.

I mostly heard the King talk about "my government" and "my ministers" will definitely do this that and the other. All in all I'd say he made a big mockery of Black Rod. In his establishing that his government was to establish better relations with the EU, he made somewhat of a mockery of "Workable Brexit" Kier Starmer in the process. However, I don't think the King made the Tories any more attractive than they have been per their track record.

  2. At this week's #PMQ's Bell Ribeiro-Addy asks #cardboardboy what steps will he take to protect the British citizens on board the flotilla bound for #Gaza

He makes no reference to the flotilla, in his reply, whatsoever instead talks about land routes to break the man-made famine

  3. "#AdrianRamsay, the #GreenParty co-leader, also raises a point of order. He says #Starmer claimed the Green manifesto contained ยฃ80bn of spending commitments that were not funded. But they were, he claims. He asks how he can correct the record. Hoyle says Ramsay has made his point."

Can't afford pro-growth spending because we refuse to levy the tax to fund it. Meanwhile, can't levy a #WealthTax because it doesn't automatically lead to growth, we refuse to spend it.

  4. Now that #RishiSunak takes credit for stopping a #MeatTax that never was proposed, it's time for #KierStarmer to up the ante.

Starmer should use #PMQ to challenge Sunak to explain what secret plans for a meat tax *were* under consideration or admit that he lied.

  5. At today's #PMQ's Chris Philp reads straight from the #Reform playback

"Why is this government prioritising housing for illegal immigrants rather than housing for young people?"

Well, Reuters and Full Fact doesn't seem to think Chris is right, but the Daily Mail believe him. It's difficult to know who to trust xx

  6. Claire Hanna the SDLP leader comments at today's #PMQ's about "#Gaza being a stain on the soul of humanity and there is more moral clarity coming from Ms Rachel on You Tube then there is from many world leaders who are complicit in silence. So, I ask the PM after 10s of thousands of deaths, when will he he hold the Israeli state to account, and when will he recognise the state of #Palestine?"

"We will keep looking at further action," he replies

  7. "Be thankful for small mercies. At Wednesdayโ€™s #pmq's we were spared the spectacle of Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch competing over who could sound tougher on foreigners. That would have been a squalid death match"..

  8. At today's #PMQ's Alison Hume (Lab) asked if people with lifelong conditions would not be continuously reassessed under the new #Pip framework

#CardboardBoy looked down and read from his notes ...
" ... we are carefully considering options"

  9. You will have noticed that Nigel Farage was not in the Commons chamber for #PMQ's yesterday. With his party in crisis, the local elections imminent & candidates stepping down for misdemeanours left, right & centre, he has, of course, gone to the US again.

Just before we hear from K.Badenock in the Commons today - please remind her that Tories were in power for 14 years....

  11. Having just watched #PMQ from today, it was odd , to say the least. Given the #WASPI farce that Starmer has created you would think it would have been easy for Bad Enoch to actually look competent.
But no, her smug, arenโ€™t I fantastic arrogance just gets in the way.
    She is utterly obnoxious.

  12. The lie that 1970s power cuts happened under a Labour Government got another airing today by The Squirt. It remains one of Minitrue's ++good work.

  13. Sunak at PMQs today: the cost of living crisis is "the number one challenge for countries up and down the family".

I wonder if he is rattled by the tone of the SC Rwanda judgement?
