  1. Создаем собственную базовую станцию при помощи SDR

В этой статье я хочу рассказать о том, как я запускал собственную базовую станцию мобильной связи (4G и 2G) при помощи относительно дешевого SDR-трансивера.

  5. I had the curiosity to do some tests transmitting and receiving DMR DMO with an unmodified #plutosdr

Normally DMR in repeater mode requires establishing a time base from the BS transmission in order to fit into one of the timeslots.

However, in DMO mode, there is no such requirement. When starting a DMO transmission, every terminal establishes its own time base, and the receiving radio must synchronize to it.

So DMR in DMO mode can work fine with the Pluto.

  6. Software modem (c++) running on a #PlutoSDR receiving an #OpulentVoice signal transmitted from the HDL version in a #LibreSDR.

    Big interoperability milestone achieved tonight.

  7. A few pics with the signals right at the output of my ADALM-Pluto in the 2390 MHz band, before amplification. In order or appearance: 4FSK, DQPSK, GMSK. I don't normally use the GMSK modem due to it's slightly lower performance, it's just there to spite my D-Star-using friends. Audio payloads are Codec2 and Opus.

The amplification chain has two stages: first to ~16 dBm, second one to ~36 dBm.

  9. @ai6yr Yep. It's horrible. I dug out my #PlutoSDR with TCXO mod and my LibreSDR, both calibrated to < 1ppm error. But nothing is as convenient or well-supported as an #rtlsdr if you just need RX.

  10. Today I learnt that #GNUradio Companion (GRC) has the ability to export C++. I think that this means that I can compile the C++ and run it natively on a #PlutoSDR.

Time will tell what the gap between theory and practice is :)

  11. So, it turns out that if you find the right keywords to search for, "plutosdr waterfall", you end up discovering something wonderful:

I'm in the process of finding a copy of my current firmware, so I can "undo", but this is a beautiful thing!

  12. Another crowdsource question: anyone here ever try SigDigger?

    github.com/BatchDrake/SigDigge

It looks a bit like what I've always wanted GQRX to be: nice interface with a lot of backend signal-analysis stuff behind a nice interface. (I like GQRX but the number of modulation schemes it supports is sadly extremely minimal.)

Thinking about messing around with it this weekend, although realistically the weekends seem to be disappearing too quickly recently.

  13. @paladin1 After playing with the #PlutoSDR for a few days, some thoughts:

    - It's not a great weak-signal rxvr. Not terrible, but any decent #HamRadio QRP rig is prob better. But I got this to play with weird digital modes, so I can live with that.
    - Overall design is 👍. The device presents to the host as USB Storage, USB-Ethernet dongle for IP, *and* a USB-Serial for console. F/W updates trivial. Drivers work well.
    - USB 2 is the bottleneck, not the ADC. USB 3 would be awesome.

  14. Last night's first-run experiments with the #PlutoSDR seemed pretty successful, given that I was using a decade-old laptop, in a basement, with a 1" antenna on the receive side of the #SDR.

Today it's time to see what signals it can pull in, using a somewhat less-trivial configuration. (Decent desktop computer, 36" whip.)

Eventually I'll get it hooked up to my attic J-pole, but that involves climbing under a desk and I'm lazy. So the mag-mount whip it is.

  15. @paladin1 Very cool.

Will be pretty interested to hear how it stacks up against the HackRF for sure. I've also heard that the #PlutoSDR was good when it first came out, but not much recently.
