The missing ingredient for me in using that kind of incubation data in practice is, what's the gap between "detectable on Pluslife" and "symptom onset"? The idea of an outlier 7-day incubation is quite scary - but in reality that person might've already had detectable virus at day 3, which (unless I missed it) wasn't measured here. So the delay could partly have been how long it took for their body to start reacting - or even how long it took the person to notice, because some people easily ignore symptoms if they're not too bad - rather than only how long it took the virus to brew.
I would love to see more of this kind of research segmented by other variables, as well. That paper suggests a slightly longer incubation for over-50s: what's actually going on there? Could that be an older-age decrease in average reactiveness of immune system, for example? What if you could segment the time-to-symptom results by "who's got an over-reactive, average, or under-reactive immune system"?
So much yet to find out!

Es ist eine Erkältung im Anmarsch. Bei dem Wetter besonders toll! /i#pluslife Tests auf Influenza und RSV laufen schon... Danach mach ich einen auf Covid.

Positive Sars-Cov-2-Tests mit dem Pluslife-Gerät sind für mich jetzt ziemlich neu.
Wie ist am besten vorzugehen bei einer Person, die am Donnerstag mit Pluslife negativ getestet wurde, aber bisher keine Symptome zeigt und bei der Schnelltests negativ sind?
Kann ich hier nur seit Donnerstag 24 Tage warten oder gibts da andere Möglichkeiten, festzustellen, wann ein Treffen wieder praktisch risikofrei möglich ist?
Die Ergebnisse des Pluslife-Geräts sagen nach meinem Kenntnisstand nichts über die Ansteckungsgefahr aus.
Die 24 Tage ergeben sich für mich aus:
- 2 bis 14 Tage Inkubationszeit
- 10 Tage nach Symptombeginn keine Ansteckungsgefahr mehr bei leichtem bis mittelschwerem Verlauf -
Worin verpacken Menschen eigentlich ihre #PlusLife-Geräte so, wenn sie sie durch die Gegend tragen?
Glaube bei @flauschzelle hab ich nen Stoffbeutel gesehen, aber ich denke ich tendiere mehr zu nem etwas stabileren Case oder so?

Gerade in dieser Saison will man evtl. auch mal #Influenza A/B und #RSV ausschließen.
10er Stück vom PoC NAT https://altruan.de/collections/pluslife-tests/products/pluslife-influenza-a-influenza-b-rsv-testkits-10-tests sind preislich etwas happig und für den Hausgebrauch eher zu viel.

@schrotthaufen Beides sind Kosten, die ich nicht persönlich tragen will. #PlusLife hätte ich, aber wie groß darf der Pool sein, vielleicht 5-7? Und dann dauert das ne halbe Stunde, plus davor die Testgewinnung, & dann weiß ich aus Erfahrung, wie zaghaft die Leute das Stäbchen in die Nase stecken; Rachentestung kennt außer uns Connoisseurs auch niemand, das für bessere Ergebnisse zu verlangen, würde definitiv empören;usw. Und was mach ich mit den Leuten in den 40 min? Doch Masken? Und Spätkommer?

I just tested with #Pluslife someone I know after their recent contract with someone with confirmed #COVID infection, so that they wouldn't be infecting people on their meetings tomorrow. Nice negative test :)

Je réfléchis à acheter un #PlusLife pour être autonome pour faire mes tests covid.
Est-ce que quelqu'un saurait m'indiquer :
- combien ça coute environ ?
- comment on s'assure de faire des prélèvements corrects ?
- est-ce qu'il faut du matériel spécifique en + autour ?Je suis très ok de lire de la doc si c'est + simple de me la flécher (mais pas à l'aise avec l'anglais trop technique 😭 )

Well, ffs. Exactly two weeks ago to the day I got my booster shot, now I managed to catch this crap again. Second time for me. And exactly like the first time back in 2023 only shortly after a booster. Just my luck I guess.
Probably caught while having dinner at a restaurant with my partner and all our parents on Sunday evening, so I'm actually now more worried about them than me.
At least I now know my #pluslife is working.
