Fic: Crab Like Dreams

Lady Cocoa continued her walk up the beach. Hoping to run into one of her friends. She wanted to tell them about meeting that strange woman and to ask for advice on what to do about her morphed hand.

As she walked, her thoughts drifted and after a while, she began to think of food. “Sushi would be nice now,” she thought.

“But why pay for it? I can just catch it and eat straight out of the sea.” The image of biting straight into a freshly caught minnow floated through her mind without her even noticing how strange it was.

Nor did she notice her tendency to walk sideways.

Not seeing any likely tidal pools to hunt minnows, Lady CocoCrab set out to find Chinolot for a long hug.

Fic: Wishes

When the wind settled, Lady Cocoa had just time to see the mystery woman dive into the ocean with a silver flash of her tail fins.
“Weird,” Cocoa thought. “I didn’t see those before.”
Her surprise only increased when she reached up to scratch her chin and a huge pincer whacked her in the face.
With a scream, she attempted to dodge out of the way, and it was only after she was behind the largest stone cairn she realized it was her hand. With another shriek, she stared at it. Her hand had become a huge red crab pincer.
She remembered the words, “never what they seem,” and thought maybe it wasn’t really a pincer. A quick nip hurt, confirming it was a crab claw or a close enough simulacrum to count as one.
“It must be that the wish wasn’t what it seemed,” she thought. “More like a curse.”

A Rescue

Pan considered the situation. While it is true, she had almost single-handedly beat the pirates (See “Peter Pan” by J. M. Barrie), she didn’t enjoy showing off. (How about a little introspection there, Pan?)

“Hay Tink, don’t you fairies have sleep dust?” asked Pan.

Tink made an excited tinkling sound and bounced up and down.

“Well, get to it Tink!”

Tink flew down and sprinkled sleep dust over the unsuspecting Usagi, who promptly fell into a deep sleep (Dreaming of having a genuine mother.)

“Come on Wendy, climb up,” Pan called down as soon as she heard the usagi snoring. (Wild Geese (Purple) was especially loud.)

And Wendy soon joined Pan and Tink.

Searching (Tinkerbell)

That left just Pan and Tinkerbell to find Wendy. Things were not as hopeless as they might seem because all of Tink’s family joined in the search and it wasn’t long before one of Tink’s friends buzzed in and whispered something to Tink.

Tink flew right off and found the tip she had gotten was correct. Below her, she could see two of the Urban Usagi guarding Wendy in a cave.

Tink, for a moment, considered trying to rescue her by herself, but quickly rejected the idea as impractical. Then she considered having her mother, the “Thorn Princess,” deal with it. She rejected that because Pan would get upset if Neverland was littered with corpses. Instead, she flew back and got Pan and they both headed off to the cave and were soon spying on the Urban Usagi.

Searching (Azusa & Mio)

Following Melon Pan’s orders, Azusa-chan and Mio-chan left to look for the kidnapped Wendy in the Tulip Forest. Unfortunately, she was not there, so they moved on to the dense Rhododendron Forests.

It was a testament to Mio-chan’s love of Wendy that she didn’t flee when, through the dense growth of rhodies, they heard the trumpet of elephants. But Mio persevered, clinging to Azusa’s arm, which would have been cute if the mission hadn’t been so dire. Despite the show of courage, Wendy was not to be found amid the massive trunks of the rhododendrons.

Fairies to the Rescue

It didn’t take long for Pan to realize Wendy was missing and she called everyone together. One by one, she assigned people places to search. Ritsu and Yui to the Blue Forest. Mio and Azusa to the Tulip fields.

Tink didn’t need to wait for instructions. True to her word, she instantly volunteered to help find Wendy, and in a blink of an eye, she was gone to rouse her fairy friend to help find Wendy.

They meet at “The Sign” and split up to search in different directions.

A Kiss for Wendy

Then down, Tink swooped to see if Melon Pan had finally totally forgiven her.

”Yes, yes, you’re forgiven. Ah… sorry, Pan apologized as she shuffled her feet in shame and embarrassment. A healthy pink glow appeared on her cheeks.

“Go on,” Wendy said. “It’s okay to have emotions.”

That was the only encouragement Pan needed. “Tink, I’m so sorry. I should have listened. And I promise, even if we have a mother now, you will never stop being my best friend. Thank you for saving me.”

Pan went to hug Tink, who nimbly dodged.

In a tinkling buzz, she responded, “Sorry, sorry, no more jealousy. My bad.” With those words, she flew up and gave the startled Wendy a fairy kiss on the ear.

When lunchtime arrived, Wendy and Pan were first in.

“My medicine. Don’t forget my medicine,” Pan demanded.

Tink buzzed angrily, trying to tell Pan that the medicine was poisoned.

“It just tastes bad. It’s not poison!” Wendy said.

While Pan chanted, “La La La La, I’m not listening to you. La La La La.”

Tink in desperation flew up to the bottle and DRANK it.

Her wings convulsed, and she fell to the floor.

Poisoned Medicine

After quickly glancing around, Anko slipped down the chimney into Pan’s house.

They listened but heard no one, signaling the coast was clear.

The medicine bottle was easy to find, sitting out on Wendy’s nightstand.

Anko smiles as they added the powered nightshade., picked under a full moon during the hour of the Ox.

Then, silent as a thief, Anko went back up the chimney, satisfied with a job well done.

Hidden in the shadows of the rafters, Tink watched a silent witness to the crime.

Anko the Poisoner

Wild Geese (Gray) agreed that disposing of Pan should be the next step. But sneaking in to put something in the medicine would be difficult. At night, the bottle was on the bedstand next to Wendy and during the day there was usually someone in the house's yard.

“I can go down the chimney when they are out for their morning constitutional.” Anko volunteered.

They all agreed to the plan. They were relieved not to be doing the dirty deed themselves.

So they all agreed and Anko was soon positioned on the roof of Pan’s house, waiting for their opportunity.

A cold reception

Not everyone was glad that Pan had freed Wendy. The Urban Usagi were very upset. Just when they thought they had a mother, she escapes.

The Urban Usagi weren’t the only unhappy individuals. Tink found that even though Pan had technically forgiven, she still wouldn’t talk to Tink. Every time she said anything, Pan would start singing at the top of her lungs, “La La La La La...”

“It’s that Melon Pan,” grumbled Wild Geese (Lavender). “If only she were gone.”

“But what can we do? She single-handedly beat the pirates in combat. And we are only usagi,” replied Wild Geese (Pink).

A small black and white usagi leaned down and whispered in Wild Geese’s (Gray) ear.

Their leader smiled a wicked smile. “That is a good idea, Anko. We will position Pan. Something nasty in her medicine.”
