Lawley Station, à 40 km au sud de #Johannesburg. Sur ce plateau aride, des milliers de cabanes de tôle forment une masse compacte, dans laquelle serpente un dédale de ruelles de terre battue. Ce jour-là, elles sont investies par des jeunes du quartier revêtus de tenues jaune fluorescent. « Ici c’est un lieu de culte. On essaie d’être le plus spécifique possible pour que les gens puissent se repérer. » Elle fait partie de la trentaine de volontaires recrutée par l’#ONG #Planact pour cartographier le quartier et attribuer une adresse à chaque propriété.
Planact, qui lutte depuis 1985 contre l'exclusion des populations vulnérables, a lancé ce programme d'adresses numériques avec le soutien de #Google. Le moteur de recherche fournit la plateforme permettant de recenser les habitations et de leur attribuer un « Plus code », soit des coordonnées géographiques simplifiées en une combinaison simple, utilisable sur Google Maps. Une plaque bleue indiquant le Plus code est ensuite apposée sur les habitations.
