  1. Outside the Default Path: A Pagan Reading of the Federal “Anti-Christian Bias” Report

A reflective Pagan perspective on the federal government’s anti-Christian bias report, exploring how religious freedom can feel very different for Americans outside the cultural mainstream. Through personal experience, civic observation, and reflections on pluralism, this essay examines the difference between protecting faith and centering one faith above others.

  2. I am co-organising this very fun Summer School in Rome, July this year.

If you are are critical economist, law scholar, or political economists, come share your work, and reflect with us about perspectives, schools of thought, and global epistemological structures and hierachies.

  3. "What human culture added was interpretation, prestige and normativity: it turned sentience into personhood, and personhood into something sacred. The crucial catalyst was the evolution of language, which, about 200,000 years ago, gave human beings new ways to describe inner life, attribute it to others, and elevate it into a shared ideal."

  4. I don't like how fellow Muslims talk about Islam to Western audiences. It's always defensive. Taking the offensive stance once in a while is necessary. Islam doesn't need defending. It's those who paint it as dangerous that need to explain themselves.

Read my critique of Western political frameworks. Consider it a mirror for those who claim to be allies in the West and “anti-imperialist.”

  6. Orientalism and the Denial of Muslim Political Agency

Western political discourse often treats Muslims as politically illegible, interpreting Muslim societies through secular or liberal frameworks. This critique examines how Orientalism embedded in Western political thought denies Muslim political agency and frames Islamic resistance as a threat rather than a response to imperial violence.

  8. Context: Someone wrote a post about a reading of erotic poetry where they opined about how awkward and distasteful it would be for them to hear people the age of their parents read erotic poems.

I found this very upsetting and responded to that thread explaining why.

Hopefully they've removed that post. I can no longer see it. Though I guess it's possible they blocked me and that's why I can't see it. Either way, I'm removing the individual's name and instead just reposting my rant, which still needs saying.

Why does age matter here?? What does that change? I can see cringing at erotica at all, like some people object to PDA, but as you age you may realize there's far less difference than you think, and how outright inhumane it is (and I don't use that as hyperbole but as literal truth) to have older humans treated as something different than "regular" humans, made to live life separately and diminished in participatory privilege. If you think it differently offensive than race segregation, maybe think harder.

It is scary enough growing old without people treating you like the walking dead who need to stop participating in regular life and just sit by and watch available time pass, kept from doing anything by people who casually and without apology talk of it like "of course it must be thus".

It may seem like just words but such words form rock hard prisons in our society. Actual enforcement of such separation occurs exactly because people shamelessly call for it in this way. It would be in many cases more humane to offer people death with dignity than require they live on in such a world that sees and treats them this way.

It's hard to overstate how angry this makes me.

  10. What the fuck? Dude can't even bring himself to say "culture."

Hey. Dimwit! The habit of smiling is not acquired upon American naturalization, nor is it distributed by Customs and Immigration Services. It's acquired through FUCKING CULTURE.

Whiteness, folks. It bleaches all away and leaves only emptiness and hunger. Stop fucking feeding it.

In-fucking-credible the lengths people will go to redefine words because they can't fucking conceive of "white" not being "default."

P.S. BTW, research shows Americans developed the habit of smiling in order to appear non-threatening to out-group members. It's what happens when you live in—despite how shitty we sometimes are about it—one of the most pluralistic cultures on the planet. So erasing its history erases the efforts we have made to coexist with folks with whom we share nothing in common.

Imagine that. Fuck this guy and his whole white website.

  12. [Edited] My past blog entry snippet is a crucial reminder for the fedizens: The idea that having different political choices equals being "divided" is a harmful label. True stability comes from acknowledging and navigating a healthy, functioning, diverse political landscape.

    > But here is where the political spin becomes harmful: The politician does not focus on systemic failures; he blames the victims.

    > Having different political choices is not being "divided"—it is the definition of a healthy, functioning democracy.

  13. Found a rather interesting app for plural systems!
It's called Ampersand. The app is for Android, is free and open source, and has Material You design. It seems rather useful for systems who want to keep track of headmates, keep notes on happenings, and various other journalism purposes.
    The github is available here:
    https://github.com/NyaomiDEV/Ampersand
    I'd recommend
not using the Obtanium link and instead using the apk in the github tags, the Obtanium app didn't work on my phone.

  15. One of the key architects of Donald Trump’s plans for a second administration has been quite public about the driving force animating that radical agenda:
a 👊“cold civil war” 👊to be won by those willing to use
“biblical principles” to “instruct government” to do what the MAGA right wants.

#Russ #Vought, a head of the Office of Management and Budget in Trump’s first term and a big player in the planning for a potential second Trump term, made the case for this #Christian #nationalist vision of America in a little-noticed speech on Capitol Hill last year.

The growing emphasis in pro-Trump circles on a strict conservative view of #Christianity combined with an #aversion to #pluralism define not only what policies a future government should adopt, but American nationhood itself.
It does so at the explicit exclusion of other faiths and some Christian denominations.

Vought gave the speech last September as part of a series called the♦️ “Theology of American Statecraft.” ♦️
The speech was devoted to the
    👺“Christian Case for Immigration Restriction.”
There, Vought laid out the litany of extreme Trump #border #policies and proposals that have now become familiar:
    💥family separation,
    💥mass deportation,
    💥curtailing legal immigration.

But he did so in explicitly Christian nationalist terms, at one point making an Old Testament reference to argue that the United States should model its immigration policy on the Tribe of Israel, welcoming newcomers “so long as they accepted Israel’s God, laws, and understanding of history.

  16. oop looks like i failed to mention #phonology in my intro

i'm an #exemplar and #NeuralNets guy by disposition but i think there's real value in #formalist approaches (à la Bale & Reiss, or the #subregular stuff); they offer a distinct mode of understanding (in a vaguely #Marr way but i've come to believe the notions of "levels" has been detrimental overall)

some day i'll get it together enough to get a piece on #explanation and #pluralism of #theory written somewhere
