They're covered in a different, yellow plum that isn't ripe yet.
We never planted a yellow plum tree.
Where did they come from? Rootstock?(The sprouts from the base of the two trees that didn't die never had this kind of plum either. I think it may have self-seeded from a neighbour's garden via bird?

I put the air-layered Santa Rosa plum in the ground this evening. I pulled the big forsythia out this morning with a lot of rope and a big come-a-long, cut the root ball off with the chain saw, dragged off the brush, washed the dirt out the root ball and dragged it off, chopped out some more roots, hoed it up, raked it out, planted the plum.
It had lots of new roots filling up the pot and has been growing fast.

I'm old so my musical tastes tend to go for the 90s alt-rock, grunge style. And I'm getting a lot of those feels from some of these bands and even though I can't understand 'em (lets face it, couldn't get a lot of the lyrics from the 90s til much later too:)) they still give me those "Goddam, thats a great sounding song!" feels.
