The naked, star-pricked sky
sucks the heat from the departed day,
sends the temperature plummeting,
scattering a crystal crust
on green leaves burning brown,
to die on Winter's frozen ground. -
Oh, from the free plummet –
Down – to the dirt and tar!
Earthly love’s scant weight,
Salted with tears – how long?Balcony. Through salty downpours,
Black pitch of malicious kisses.
And inescapable enmity’s
Sigh: breathed out in verse!#plummeting #SmallPoems #OpenAccess

You go #plummeting from the heights of bliss
with a confidence that cannot miss.
Now, face-down in a familiar pit,
you see your boldness was gravely amiss. -
I could tell you it was the polio, but it was more my precarious sense of balance when, as a toddler, I scaled to the top step of our stairs and then, feeling so proud to have made it, suddenly realizing I'd lost my concentration and, in moments frozen in memory, I fell backwards, bumping tumbling #plummeting rolling down the stairs to the bottom.
It happened, I am told, every time one woman from town happened to drop by. She was so unnerved, she stopped visiting.
True story. #MastoPrompt

Plummeting through infinity
Questions of masculinity and femininity
No longer remain
as we strive to attain
The long-promised goal of divinity -
Plummeting into
Love with him again, this life:
Inevitable. -
The Princess Cried
At the prompt, he felt
His confidence plummeting
Bringing this word to life
Seemed inconceivable.“Off with his head,”
The princess cried.
Thus, in the end,
It was a no-brainer. -
There is no alternative of course -
The numbers brook no debate.
So with the mercury plummeting.
We have to rise to it.
We lie together and shiver
The world dies away outside
In a cocoon we live on.
We'll make it to the spring.
It can't go on like this forever. -
It is mid-afternoon when the storm finally breaks, the snow slows, then stops, just occasional flecks. The clouds zip across the sky. The temperature is #plummeting, even as the sun pokes out. Earl collects his horse at the stable and starts the long ride up Mt. Riga Road, the snow in places almost up to his horse’s chest. The mare knows how to cope, stepping high, bringing up a cloud of snow with each stride. 'She’s a good mare,' Earl thinks. 'Feck it’s cold.'

And then he went a #plummeting
Falling and shouting down
His raging voice soon failed him
As the fall continued unboundNow in silence as he fell
He could not yell or even tell
What had befell him suddenly so
and where the hell would he goComing upon another sudden
He finally landed all alone
And while the drop was molten gold
The floor was karmic stone#Mastoprompt #smallpoems #poetry #writer #writing #writingcommunity

Desperately clinging on to the edge of a tenuous precipice, fingers scrambling for any traction as rocks and debris came plummeting down.
Crying out for someone, anyone, to throw down a lifeline to save him from himself and the depths of his despair. Eyes filled with terror, pupils fully dilated, as he turned his head downwards to the chasm below.
Scrambling his way up, a rush of adrenaline and the thoughts of those he'd leave behind lit a fire inside him.
Her adoring hazel eyes and her warm embrace warmed his heart like nothing else. Finally, he'd allowed her into the rooms of his soul that had long been barricaded shut. She was his only salvation and the lifeblood that coursed in his veins.
He laid motionless, gasping for breath as he gazed skyward, overwhelmed and completely exhausted. Tears poured like a raging torrent that could not be contained.
Gingerly rising to his feet, he stared down at the endless void below, knowing that the outcome could've been vastly different.
This battle was unnervingly familiar and had been fought valiantly many times, but the long and brutal war was yet to be won.

The rise and fall was a natural rhythm that everyone was so in sync with that it was almost forgotten.
And so, they thought, what if we raise one up beyond what's natural? Perhaps then it will never fall.
None expected the rapid plummeting of it that was nature's response.
