On the first weekend of May I will be back in Munich at the #VCFe. There I have an exhibition on #AnalogComputing (with a #THAT and a Leybold analog computer, using a modified #Vectrex and an HP XY #plotter as output devices) and I will give a lecture on "Unconventional Computing" (in which the analog computers also play a role).

For #genuary10 "polar coordinates", I wanted to take the prompt quite literally and draw a map of the poles.
The sketch shows Antarctic sea-ice extent in September for the years 2005 (pink), 2011 (purple), 2018 (blue) and 2025 (black), in a radius range ~2500 to 4000 km from the pole.

My tiny contribution to preserving PHOENIX history, the IBM 3084Q mainframe that Cambridge ran when i was an undergrad, is that i have scanned the two CAMPLOT reference cards i happen to have kept. Two 3-panel cards that summarised the FORTRAN functions you needed to get plotter output.
