It's been months since I plotted anything, but this Monday's #plotparty prompt (Flowers) from DirtAlleyDesign (on Instagram) and a particularly beautiful crop of peonies blooming in the garden nudged me to try a new photo to plotter workflow.  I used copilot to reinterpret the photo into a rendering style and then vpype flow imager to render to SVG.  Staedler Triplus on office paper. #plotterart #penplotter

A little test running the layout through rstr.d17e.dev to generate plottable SVGs. I ended up rotating the image before processing to influence the results. I also made an inverted version to then later combine the outputs.

An absolutely filthy first draft!! So much upheaval... but hey, I’ve finally participated in a (Mini) Plot Party. ✨

A pleasure to spend some time today messing around with pens, Procreate, and Inkscape.

Took me until 11:30pm, so I’m not at all sure these colors are accurate and they’ll probably look way off in the morning… but as with everything, under my current mantra: Close Enough. ✨

I didn’t have the time to participate in most of the recent #plotparty but I at least did a bunch of postcards to send out to folks. This pattern, as you might guess, is inspired by the #formica boomerang pattern, and I wrote some code to create random boomerang shapes. Some of them were more successful than others, but I kinda like how the weird ones came out. The placement of the boomerangs was massaged by hand, so that the boomerang of the same color would not overlap

I often like to start a print with a base mark of white acrylic somewhere on the paper. It provides a subtle shift in the way the ink goes down and provides a bit of unpredictability to the plot.
