PKP PLK has signed a contract for design work on building extra passing loops between Władysławowo and Hel. Only design, because funding for the actual building work has yet to be secured. The project involves building a passing loop in the forests north of Hel, at the Chałupy halt, and also doubling the Władysławowo-Władysławowo Port section along with adding a second platform in Władysławowo: https://www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/wiadomosci/plk-zwiekszy-przepustowosc-linii-na-hel--142607.html

-
In other Polish rail news, apparently they added the ability find a particular train by name to Portal Pasażera some weeks (I think) ago, so you don't have to look up the number anymore if you use those
-

Leo Express will open a ticket counter at Warsaw West on Sunday, March 1, along with the launch of their Warsaw offer. This is attributed to the fact that the new Warsaw West is one of the few station buildings in Poland managed by the infrastructure manager, PKP PLK, and not its corporate parent, PKP SA (generally responsible for managing most railway real estate - and currently considering whether they feel like approving RegioJet's bid to open a ticket counter at Warsaw Central): https://www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/wiadomosci/leo-express-bedzie-kasa-na-warszawie-zachodniej-plk-konkurencji-nie-blokuje-126805.html

In better news, PKP PLK has determined some relatively minor work can bring the Rybnik-Chałupki line from 60 (north of Wodzisław) and 80 (south of Wodzisław) (and apparently some 30 point restrictions) to 120 km/h. Additionally, the fromer passing loop near Czyżowice (https://www.bazakolejowa.pl/index.php?dzial=stacje&id=13027&okno=start) will be rebuilt. This is expected to improve travel times by up to 4 minutes. All this over the spring, to be ready for the June timetable change (delayed due to the cold winter): https://www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/wiadomosci/od-czerwca-szybciej-z-rybnika-do-chalupek--126762.html

RE: https://infosec.exchange/@zaufanatrzeciastrona/116008286247565664
An interesting, and kind of worrying, note from Zaufana Trzecia Strona, a known Polish infosec portal: It appears that last month PKP PLK deployed some kind of anti-scraping measure in Portal Pasażera that randomly skewed all reported train times up to an hour either way when it decided a request was suspicious. After a bunch of feedback from confused passengers (the author describes having encountered the bizarre behavior on a normal Polish mobile connection) it was disabled after a few days… And is now apparently back, but only one third of the time. Please be careful, and double check with posters/other trip planners/station signs if you see the portal suddenly not reporting delays!

In other stuff, in case you've been wondering, this is what a guaranteed connection looks like in Polish timetables:

Trains are back up and running on Kętrzyn-Korsze starting today, albeit limited to 40 km/h. Electrification works remain ongoing:

Eh, it's probably not really that noteworthy nor is it new to this timetable, but here's a nice little case of an Intercity making a planned overtake of a KM regional train between stations using the opposite-direction track (there are no full stations between Tłuszcz and Łochów):
-
And in Polish railway bullshit, I keep finding new kinds of substandard timetables - like here in Żulin (I feel like I shouldn't find the name funny :/), a formerly full-blown station where the last train from Lublin was moved earlier this #RailwayNewYear and now departs 15:54 for a 16:40 departure onwards from there. After that, there's another Regio pair (and another train north on weekends and another IC south, but that wouldn't stop here no matter what) which passes this and one other halt nearby which is NOT a demand stop, but starts stopping everywhere from Krasnystaw.

-

Przykład, tabela 420 i IC Staszic:

Oh boy, now I've encountered new timetable weirdness on the Ostbahn. The Polish timetables, including online on Portal Pasażera, say all the Kostrzyn trains have been extended to Ostkreuz. So do DB's station posters you can download from bahnhof.de. However, German-side live running data, VBB and MERITS all say things are as they were - Kostrzyn trains running to/from Lichtenberg, workday Verstärker running Ostkreuz-Müncheberg (Mark). (And also apprently NEB is having problems today and running all the Kostrzyn trains with single units rather than the usual doubles)
And there I was initially pleasantly surprised…

#PKP #PLK confident they can have passenger trains running to Szczecin Niebuszewo and Police in 2026/7 timetable, caution not to expect miracle headways as automatic block signalling will not be installed. This year, they will be doing work at the southern head of Szczecin Główny as part of final preparations: https://www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/wiadomosci/skm-szczecin--pociagi-do-polic-wroca-w-przyszlym-roku-126058.html

In other stuff, it's hilarious that this timetable period, "runs on working days except when people are probably taking time off to make a long weekend" gets expressed like this:
(This is the first year in which Christmas Eve is a non-working day here. Yes, in this country a liberal government ended up adding holidays rather than removing them as is the trend in Europe)
-
All this talk of connection times at @jon's feed has reminded me of a bullshit thing in #PKPIC's domestic conditions of carriage. Namely, they contain a blanket provision stripping you of passenger rights across any connection shorter than 10 mins scheduled. Which would be less crazy if not for the fact that PKP PLK considers a connection requested by a carrier (you can see those when browsing Portal Pasażera, the "receiving" train will have a clickable S in a square by the station in question) satisfied at a minimum of 5 minutes. So after any timetable change (and remember, 5 of those a year here) you may suddenly find yourself unable to buy a through ticket for a particular set of trains for no apparent reason.
Yes, this is the sort of bullshit that makes people here rather less receptive to arguments that maximizing one-seat rides is not a good thing
-
And on the subject of #Łódź (see https://mastodon.com.pl/@HaTetsu/115719996420312178), now drops the news that PKP PLK has decided what to do with the severe chokepoint that is the single-track line to Kutno that provides the city's connections to points north (the ones that don't run through Warsaw, anyway) and they went with a halfway option - double-tracking most of the Łęczyca-Kutno section, leaving the station approaches on both ends single-track, and upgrading to 160 km/h: https://www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/wiadomosci/lodz--kutno-drugi-tor-na-czesci-trasy--125854.html

So, as I imagine is becoming a regular #RailwayNewYear activity for me, I am Takt hunting. Which is to say, I'm trawling #PLK timetables to see how well #PKPIC's boasts of the increasing number of Takt relations are reflected in the actual timings (having realized that expanding to something similar to https://mastodon.com.pl/@HaTetsu/115142221091238924 would be rather too time-consuming right now). The south is currently rather disrupted by the twin worksites at Katowice station and Kraków-Kozłów, but getting into the 200s, we have our first result!
The (Białystok-)Warsaw-Łódź-Wrocław relation, also known as line P15 in the 2035 network draft, is now almost fully 2h Takt until Ostrów Wielkopolski! (EDIT: In the other direction, there's equal spacing from Wrocław until the 3pm train, at which point things get somewhat messed up and only get evened out around Sieradz) Getting equal spacing on the Ostrów-Wrocław leg has proven beyond PLK's ability at this time, which is understandable - a single-track section, further encumbered due to an ongoing closure on its twin running via Międzybórz Sycowski and, of course, the Gordian knot of the three-track western approach to Wrocław Główny where traffic from seven directions has to fit all work against the planners.1/x

lolololol, #PLK has issued a statement chewing out #RegioJet for the sudden cancellation and informing that they've referred the matter to UTK (the state regulator)

Also, as you may be able to see in the link preview, they actually made the arrivals boards green like in France. AFAIK, this is exclusive to these new online ones, and completely unacknowledged anywhere I've looked. Just a thing for #SNCF fans XD
This comes after they deployed some blue on white boards, which you could consider a tribute to Dutch railways

CW: Guide to Portal Pasażera station board functionality
Before, there already was, and still is, a kind of station display option - the Find a Train button in the top bar brings up a menu with two options - when you pick the slightly mistranslated "at the station", you get to pick departures/arrivals, put in a station name and… pick a time, defaults to current. This will give you a list of clickable trains, in timing order taking into account delays (which physical boards do not, they always show trains in timetable order). This list does not auto-refresh, and because it's set to start at a particular time, previous trains will not scroll off even if you do refresh manually - you'll have to use the top bar option again to change the time if you want that. Nonetheless, this is still the view I'd recommend actually using.
From here, in the top left corner, you should see a "station display" button - that will show you the new functionality - a (supposedly - all the biggest stations appear to be frozen since today morning XD) live-updating board you can stretch to full screen. The layout appears to be yet another evolution of what I remember to be the latest LCD board stuff: notably, delays are indicated next to the time, not in a notes field, as is still way too common here, and train names are shown under the train number. However, trains are not clickable in this view - to get more details about the route you have to use the previous one.Other points to note:
- The "trains at the station" view shows both platform and track numbers, in separate columns. The "station board" view shows only the platform number, as do physical boards.
- The "trains at the station" view always uses local time, as any journey planner should. The "station board" view shows times using the timezone reported by your browser.
- When you've clicked a train in the "trains at the station" view, you may want to click the number/name again to see the full run, and not just the part from/until the station

Meanwhile in #RegioJet drama resolution: #PLK announced timetables between Warsaw and Poznań were revised to account for the delayed start of RJ services, resolving KW's complaints - at least for the time being: https://www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/wiadomosci/pkp-plk-zmienia-rozklad-jazdy-przez-brak-regiojet-do-poznania-125782.html
-
#RegioJet drama, continued: both #PKPIC and RJ are very unhappy about PKP PLK's handling of the ongoing works on the Kraków-Tunel section - a key bottleneck where trains bound for the CMK high-speed(-capable, depending on definition) line, those taking the interregional route via Kielce and Radom, those bypassing the GZM (Katowice) area via Koniecpol and local trains all compete for capacity. This is the same part-closure that forced RegioJet's initial train pair to be diverted via Zawiercie this year, which they say yhey were fine with as that train was requested as an individual timetable mid-year.
On RegioJet's part, one pair is to be cancelled and one other train diverted via Zawiercie. On the other hand, two EIP pairs are to be cancelled.
RJ says that's still unfair to them, because the pair that got cancelled is the one they expected to be the one that would capture morning traffic from Kraków to Warsaw and hence, the highest demand. For its part, PKPIC protests that RegioJet trains running direct between the two big cities without stopping were prioritized over state-subsidized IC/TLK trains serving the towns in between (although PKPIC is itself cutting a bunch of stops around the country in the next timetable) - 3 out of the 4 Lublin-Radom-Kraków pairs are to be cancelled, and 9 other pairs redirected, 3 of which will have their stop in Kraków Główny moved to Kraków Płaszów.
-
#RegioJet drama update: They're now openly warning they're preparing a complaint to the European Commission about their Warsaw-Kraków trains getting timetabled for 8~9 minutes longer travel times than similar #PKPIC trains despite declaring the same top speed (what about braking curves tho). And also that PKP PLK punted their Warsaw-Prague train off to Pyrzowice and Gliwice without even trying to fit it in other trains while PKPIC gets to run via Katowice despite the heavy works (uhhh, must have not noticed the large bunch of PKPIC trains still diverted via Siemianowice - if you asked me, they should make the best of the hand they've been dealt and promote it as the first direct connection from Pyrzowice and Tarnowskie Góry to Warsaw ever or something - the results could be surprising): https://www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/wiadomosci/regiojet-szykuje-skarge-do-ke-pociagi-na-trasie-warszawa--krakow-dyskryminowane-125473.html

Jeżeli wnerwia was #CloudFlare, powinniście spróbować użyć strony "chronionej" przez #RadWare.
