  1. Remembering my friend Richard Forrest, a marine reptile expert, with a week or two of marine reptile artworks. I'll start with this old acrylic painting, called The Wreck, which I created for Richard back in 2004.

  6. It's marine reptile Monday!
Okay, that's not a thing, but here is an old acrylic painting from 1999 (26 years old!). It depicts a Liopleurodon breaching with an unfortunate Metriorhynchus in its jaws. It was commissioned for a TV series that was never made.

  7. Delve into the history and inspiration behind the 1950s Marx Kronosaurus plastic toy: dinotoyblog.com/kronosaurus-ma

This is one of the most insightful and thorough reviews to date on the @dinotoyblog, and also the final Marx figure to be checked off the reviewer's to-do list.

N.B. Controversially, the skeleton may not even be Kronosaurus (see, Eiectus).

  8. I just posted a short 'Plesiosaur Bites' blog article about new (2018-2023) plesiosaur toys: plesiosauria.com/six-more-year

Lots of links therein to #DinoToyBlog reviews.

  9. I've updated my plesiosaur genera stratigraphic chart again with some more recently named taxa. I can hardly keep up! Please let me know if I've missed any.

"#Pliosaurs were a type of short-necked #plesiosaurs: marine #reptiles built for speed compared to their long-necked cousins... They were ecological equivalents of today’s #KillerWhales and would have eaten a range of prey including squid-like #cephalopods, large #fish and other #MarineReptiles."

  11. New open access paper on 'The rise of macropredatory pliosaurids near the Early-Middle Jurassic transition' establishes a new genus of pliosaur, Lorrainosaurus:

  13. Kronosaurus (Jurassic World Dino Trackers, Wild Roar by Mattel): dinotoyblog.com/kronosaurus-ju

"Most noteworthy is the addition of barnacles across the entire figure. They are minuscule but unmistakable for what they are, being round raised bumps with a small divot in their center"

  14. This gigantic toothy reptile terrorized the Jurassic oceans.

Fossils show that extinct marine beasts called pliosaurs might have grown to be nearly as large as a sperm whale.
