I was commissioned by the local vicar to do a portrait of a weeping willow in the back garden of the vicarage. The tree was planted in the 1950s by the vicar's wife of the time, and was in the garden of the old vicarage. The new vicarage was granted a bigger garden which included the tree.
Oil on stretched linen, 55 x 38 cm.

Such a treat to pleinair in an empty park on a day with perfect weather. I wish more people would come out to paint.

a wonderful day with London Plein Air Painters at Battersea Park, where around 60 of us were painting or drawing in glorious sunshine.
This is a view from the north side of the park overlooking a very brown River Thames. Should I have put more blue in the water? It certainly didn’t look at all blue from where I was, but it was a lovely scene.

A couple of gouache paintings I painted from the plein air workshop I was running in Hurley yesterday. It was a hot day and I caught the sun a little too much. Gouache on HP watercolour paper, 18 x 26.5 cm (both).

I was out and about early this morning in Hambleden, painting a small panel of the barn in the distance. I have painted this barn many times before. The heat built up quickly over the morning. Oil on gesso panel, 18 x 24 cm.
