In reality Donald Trump supporters are the ones who have shown they don’t abide by the constitution and hate freedom. Welcome to Republican politics 101. -
IF YOU DONT BELIEVE IN LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL, DON'T BE A HYPOCRITE AND SAY THE PLEDGE. ALL... MEANS ALL!

What the FUCK is this ruling? https://www.vox.com/politics/481401/supreme-court-mirabelli-bonta-sauron-wins So #educators are now experts in what every religion may deem unacceptable…but really only “gay” stuff matters. But let’s imagine this was enforceable and they cared about anything but the genitalia of children: what if my child is being bullied into saying the #pledgeofallegiance ? Learning about #georgewashington ? I want teachers to be aware that my religion prohibits this kind of idolatry!!! #supremecourt #uspol

Makes me want to rewrite the pledge:
"I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stood, one nation, without Kings, with liberty, due process, and justice for all"

#FCC asks stations for "pro-America" programming, like daily #PledgeofAllegiance
FCC Chairman today urged joining "Pledge America Campaign" that Carr established to support Trump's "Salute to America 250" project
Carr said in a press release that "I am inviting broadcasters to pledge to air programming in their local markets in support of this historic national, non-partisan celebration." … "air patriotic, pro-America programming in support of America’s 250th birthday."

Our United States constitution's first amendment as interpreted by proven rapist Trump & his wholly owned GOP and their hand picked SCOTUS majority ...
Congress shall make law respecting an establishment of religion.
The new pledge of allegiance is even simpler: "I pledge allegiance to Donald Trump and all his desires and wishes."

Years ago I wrote about the values in the 4H Pledge https://biketoworkbarb.blogspot.com/2011/02/head-heart-hands-and-health.html. Ever since then when I find a good pledge I drop it in the comments on that post. The poems make suitable reading for the Fourth of July, especially in these times. These aren't unthinking patriotism--they pledge to things like the soil in a garden and Janet Wong's "acceptance / of the views, / so different, /
that make us America."#America #pledge #PledgeOfAllegiance #4H #poetry #poems #poem #PoemADay #TodaysPoem

Years ago I wrote a small proposal about what we might pledge ourselves to that fits These Days. I've been adding links to relevant poems in the comments every so often. Have any reading on this general theme that you like?

Dear #Americans, can we be finally honest here after two months and admit that the #constitution is just a worthless piece of paper, the #pledgeofallegiance are just empty words, checks and balances are all bullshit and the basis for the #secondamendment is simply meaningless?

We stand for a bride coming down the aisle, for a judge entering a courtroom, for the declaration of the Pledge of Allegiance, for the singing of the Star Spangled Banner, and for other people of particular importance entering a room.
Why do we stand for these things but not for the reading of the Word?

The inclusion of “under #God” in the #PledgeofAllegiance was a #sectarian #move whose #exclusionary #effects are increasingly evident in today’s #Fascist #landscape.

An older post of mine suggesting an alternative to the Pledge of Allegiance https://biketoworkbarb.blogspot.com/2011/02/head-heart-hands-and-health.html. I keep finding and adding poems on various types of pledges in the comments--have any good ones I've missed?

Was not disappointed by Kristin Ann Hass's "Blunt Instruments" about #monuments/memorials, #museums, and "patriotic practices" (i.e., #flags, #PledgeOfAllegiance). Great critical analysis of the cultural infrastructure that helps to perpetuate #WhiteSupremacy. Recommended #reading! #BeaconPress https://www.beacon.org/Blunt-Instruments-P1854.aspx

The irony in US pledge of allegiance: "one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all".
Liberty, except to leave out "under God".

Don't like some of what the Pledge of Allegiance states or suggests? Years ago I offered up another pledge for consideration: https://biketoworkbarb.blogspot.com/2011/02/head-heart-hands-and-health.html.

These are some of the words I use to describe AOC and her speech as she goes off about the abuse of the American working class.
