@shufflecake Elia and I have bee quite under the water recently, but we've been quietly working to this new release - mostly Elia, TBH :)

In addition to the long due test units and dev guide, we worked a lot on FLUSH and FUA requests for block device I/O. We got SCARY performances, very close and at times beyond dm-crypt in fio tests!

I think it is safe to say that performances won't be our priority from now on (at least for the Lite scheme), and we can keep focusing on new features and the roadmap to our Holy Grail: a fully hidden Linux OS!

Wie gesagt, #DeltaChat läuft auf solider, dezentraler (Email-)Infratruktur, im Gegensatz zu #SignalDown, die wohl aktuelle irgendwelche Probleme mit Besos AWS haben.

Aber das tun #Briar und #OnionShare auch, nur brauchen sie keine registrierten Email-Adressen, und hinterlassen im Gegensatz zu DeltaChat keine #Datenspuren von Metadaten auf x Mailservern wie z. B. Uhrzeit, Datum, Absender- und Empfängeradresse sowie die Größe der Nachricht.

Und #PlausibleDeniability ist insofern bei DC genauso ein Problem wie bei PGP.

It's not news that U.S. corporations are profiting from the destruction caused by U.S. military actions, directly or indirectly (in #Gaza currently the demolition contractor is vassal/client state #Israel). This profit-making often occurs through military contracts, logistics, and reconstruction that follows war and occupation.

Taking #Blackwater and the Nisour Square massacre in #Iraq as an example, these "contractors" (mercenaries) operate in a legal gray area, with little accountability. Their actions, even accidental ones, could escalate the conflict. Not to mention it's an industry driven by profit, which incentivizes prolonging conflict, not ending it.

In this context, power is not threatened by the exposure of a lie crafted with insufficient attention to #PlausibleDeniability. On the contrary, lies are now generated in industrial quantities, with the quality of each false claim sacrificed on the altar of sheer mendacious productivity. The goal is not to present yourself as a trustworthy teller of truths, but to poison the well of public discourse with an overflowing sewage of impossible claims in order to discredit *everyone* and even the prospect that any action by anyone is ever taken in good faith.

So at this point, I think the "embarrassment" epistemological criterion has to be retired. This new wave of authoritarian political figures have realised that shameless repetition of lies, and spraying yet more lies when those lies are exposed, and never giving an inch, nets you a support base with basically indestructible support, so long as you never show any hint of weakness in the façade of endless bullshit.

You can debunk bullshit, but the work of the bullshitter is not threatened by your debunking. Indeed, your good faith debunking might actually be part of their strategy, as it can be weaponised to paint themselves as victim of the very #InformationalWarfare they are themselves currently engaged in.
