  1. Another Lego sphere tryout – an octahedron made of triangles. The triangles are made from 3 1x6 plates connected by "in-plane" hinges. The triangles are then connected to each other with "out-of-plane" hinges. I realized the sides could be decorated with the same in-plane hinges which gave the thing a nice bit of texture 😊

  2. For #spacetober_challenge day 29 prompt orbit: #mathematician and #astronomer Johannes Kepler (1571-1630)! We remember him for his role in the Scientific Revolution, and his three laws of planetary motion in particular. His laws modified Copernicus’ heliocentric model; he replaced the circular orbits with elliptical ones & described velocities of planets. Today we know them as:

  9. #JohannesKepler was a brilliant #astronomer who studied the motion of #planets. Like everyone, he also had some strange ideas about the heavens, no doubt as a person in the middle ages would about the harmony of worlds and their purported relation to things like the #PlatonicSolids, which was of course bogus. He is probably best known for his famous three laws of #PlanetaryMotion which he reluctantly formulated when he had to abandon the idea that planets only orbit the #Sun in perfect #circles.
