CW: cute itsy brown butterfly + Sweet William Flowers/plants
@plants Earlier I posted a pic of a beautiful Lacewing on Dianthus buds. Here are some more views of some of the bazillion of those plants here- in only a hint of the range of colours/patterns they will come in. They are much loved by #pollinators especially #Butterflies such as the Skipper seen in one of the shots.

Today's dandelion tidbit: this is a single dandelion flower. What looks at a glance like a flower petal is, in fact, a whole flower, with a complete set of reproductive parts. Each flower head contains more than 100 of these tiny flowers, in a little community of sunny yellow. That's right, #dandelions are friendly in every way. #bloomscrolling #plantnerd
-
Anyway, this is an attractive #NativePlant doesn't fruit a ton here, probably because it rarely gets sunny places to grow. It has great autumn colour- in shady places pale ghostly shades, and blazing colour where it gets more sun. It also releases a distinctive kind of funky aroma into the autumn woodland air- part of the magic of the season...lol

@ml @johntimaeus @thebiologistisn Nice chart. Had to go back and check my soil pH to see where I was. Is there a similar chart for ion mobility in grape vines (or generic plants)? We are on volcanic soils with very high Mn and Mg. I have read that Mn is a very mobile ion and as such it can interfere with the uptake of other micronutrients such as Zn, B, Ca, etc.. I regularly add foliar nutrients to my spray regime to mitigate this as the petiole analysis is pathetic without it leading to shatter, especially on the Grenache, and hens and chicks on the Counoise. #PlantNerd #Vineyard

@plants A bit more catching up (it'll never happen, many hundreds of new photos since then...lol)- this #SixOnSaturday came from a #RainyDay or 2 in early May.#Spring #flowers enjoying the moisture.
Top left to right Pulsatilla vulgaris Rote Glocke (funny to see that anglicised in so many places as Red Clock, which doesn't even make sense! it's Red Bell! This was oddly my latest pulsa to flower, even though in a relatively warm bed... cont--

1/4 @TradescantiaHub @plants Bought a new #houseplant the other day, something I do rarely these days, but this was something I'd never seen before- at first glance I thought I thought it was a Sansevieria, but no + the tag said #Tradescantia spathacea Silver- which I'd never heard of till I realised that was the old Rhoeo sp.But I started digging more, since it didn't look right- leaf shape was diff, though that could be varietal--

*plants horseradish in the garden as a companion plant to potatoes in 2016
Today @stevetex asks me if we have any horseradish for his sandwich and as we're walking back from digging it out of the garden I said "I've been waiting years for you to ask me if we had any horseradish!"

@Snu @NessaUndreza @LifeTimeCooking this looks so much like the Mexican sage I have growing in my yard, had to look it up 🤓
Some interesting uses!
~Edible. The leaves, deep fried in batter, are known as 'lambari' or fried fish in Brazil! Use them young in salads, steamed or stir-fried.
~Medicinal. Leaves can be used on insect bites, including bee-stings. ...
~Functional. A soft natural toilet paper! -

@SudoNaaame a #wednesday #! #WindowsillWednesday just a couple of quick shots of a small part of my indoor garden, late morning winter light.. I didn't groom for this, or turn plants for best views.. most need some attention, as you can see..lol-- I've been mostly pre-occupied with outdoor gardens and other things in recent years!

Oh here's my little pothos planter from some random cuttings. Look to be a bit of #marbleQueen #snowQueen and some #philodendron I threw in as well. Have some #njoy in the tent I'd like to get in here as well sooner rather than later.

@SudoNaaame @plants #LeafyLundi #houseplants #PlantNerd #IndoorGardening here's my first for our new #
I grow more juicy and spiky plants rather than leafy, indoors, but this Hoya pubicalyx is looking better than I expected, considering it's potting mix is not ideal- too much coir, maybe, so it dries too fast and turns to concrete- it hasn't grown much for a long time, but still looks surprisingly healthy! I see it's making a new leaf again, I should repot it soon to give it a break! -
@plants A little #houseplants fun- this #retro #critter was spotted on a Copiapoa minima #cactus in my #WindowsillGarden As a kid, I had a whole collection of these little rubbery #toys -called Creepy Crawlies back then ('70s).. this was a more recent purchase (5 or 10 years ago?) #PlantNerd #ChildAtHeart

@plants #FlowersOnFriday for last week-- seems so far away already! We were in late #Autumn still, with a few of the toughest #flowers still going after moderate frosts and light snow-pics from this week will be white and whiter! + a couple of #houseplant pics-- safely indoors some things will flower now and then over the winter.. Other than that, any flower pics from now on will be memories of summer..lol #florespondence #Alberta #gardening #PlantNerd

@tattooed_mummy It does seem interesting here! (1 day in...lol) I think my hashtag game is pretty strong- I use Instagram, after all 😆 I didn't use tags in that post, since to me it didn't have any real content, hate to disappoint anyone that might come to the post actually expecting to see #plants...lol so here's one Peperomia albovittata 'Peacock' and it's stunning (microscope needed) flowers...lol #houseplants #plantnerd
