Got some new fish and rocks for our aquarium today: a few purple harlequins, some Amano shrimp, some nerite snails, and a clown pleco. In this photo you can see two of the harlequins in the back-left schooling with one of the neon tetras, but the rest of the new gang are hiding. This shot also gives a good example of how big Keene the flag cichlid is; this is a 39 gallon bow-front tank, and he is about 75 percent the size of my hand — maybe 4 or 5 inches long? (I’m awful at estimating sizes.)

Sometimes putting in a minimal effort pays off: My Anubias is blooming! In the past couple years I have neglected my aquarium, mostly just keeping up the water level, trimming plants, and feeding plants/fish whenever I remember 😅

Transplanting some of the houseplants to the aquarium. Still figuring out how to best do this, or if it would even work.
The plant on the left has been there for a week, and so far still looks green and hasn't wilted yet.
The one on the right was just put in this morning.

Probably the nicest aquascape I’ve built. Hopefully the plants continue to grow well and the fish enjoy it.
They’re hard to see, except for the Angelfish, but there’s about 50 Tetras, Barbs, and Corydoras in there #aquarium #plantedaquarium

Added another piece of wood to the larger aquarium. I soaked it in the bath for about a week but it was still too buoyant (and generating complaints) so weighted it down with a rock.
Added more plants too #aquarium #plantedaquarium

This is a good fish. She's been munching algae in my 90u for a year now and she needs a name.

certainly we must have a #fishkeeping community here on fedi, yeah? does anyone have any accounts they'd recommend? i'm especially a fan of #shrimp and #guppies, and i'm very interested in #aquascaping, but i'll be cool with anyone who focuses on freshwater or saltwater fishkeeping just in general! i can also read some japanese so if anyone knows of japanese accounts that post about #aquariums, those would be good too!
i'd sift through the hashtags i've used in this post to find some accounts, but alas my instance is so new that all of those hashtags appear more or less empty from here :despair:
