  1. These 'oranges' are the fruits of a climbing fig, Ficus punctata. Spotted at Upper Seletar Reservoir Park, Singapore on 10 Aug 2025. Easily spotted on the vines encircling the tree trunk.

  2. A Black Bat Flower (Tacca chantrieri) spotted in the National Orchid Garden at the Singapore Botanic Gardens on 27 July 2025. It has been many years since I last saw one, so nice to see it again.

    They belong to the yam family, and got the name by being black with bracts that resemble wings.
