  3. 🥳 Oh, goody! Another groundbreaking revelation: "benchmarking" is evidently the new buzzword for charging you more 💸 while you drown in buzzword soup 🍲. #PlanetScale for #Postgres promises to bring you the ultimate Postgres experience, assuming you survive the labyrinth of documentation and sales pitches first. 🙄

  5. 🐢Go interpreters are finally catching up with C++, only a few decades behind! 🏃‍♂️ Meanwhile, PlanetScale's blog is like a treasure hunt for anyone who loves #buzzwords more than actual information. 🎉 Read all about Metal, SQL engines, and why #JIT is totally not a thing here. 🙄

  7. Who would've thought? 🙄 An article pretending to reveal the "true" failure rate of EBS, but ends up being an advertisement for PlanetScale's shiny new #NVMe drives. 📢🚀 Apparently, reading about #IOPS is the new hype! 🙃

  14. Now that #planetscale removed the free plan I'll most probably #selfhost my #mysql database with docker. Apart for configuring backup and saving it to different loccations, do you have any other advice to configure it better?
My mysql admin experience is very low

  16. When I posted about moving from #Vercel to my own k8s cluster, folks were like “they will never get rid of the free tier” (rosnovsky.us/blog/vercel-to-ku)

They most definitely will. Every “#developer friendly” VC-funded #startup you love and recommend will betray your trust, bait you and then switch when you’re done promoting it to your fellow developers. Here’s how it’s going to play out, taking #PlanetScale as example: planetscale.com/blog/planetsca.

    TL;DR: you’ll have a month to migrate.

  18. I'm currently processing being laid off on my last day of vacation in the Denver airport after a great five days in the mountains.

I am still figuring out what I want to do after 2.5 years at #PlanetScale (and 8 years of startup DevRel), but at this point I will probably explore a wide range of roles in developer relations, product, and developer marketing.

I'll share more later, but if you want to reach out with anything, I will get back to you soon.

  22. #PlanetScale can now tell you when:
    - You probably need an index
    - How you can stop wasting space with redundant indexes
    - You are about to auto increment yourself into an outage
    - To consider getting rid of data that might not be needed anymore

    big brain stuff 🧠

  24. I suck at DB queries, but I've been watching a lot of videos from @aarondfrancis at #PlanetScale and it's been helping me understand why I'm so bad at it. Great video on joins. youtube.com/watch?v=5hsl47I3sv

These would be some great talks for @tek 2024 😜

  32. #PlanetScale's YouTube channel has some fantastic tutorials on databases/MySQL. Very pragmatic, good examples and very well explained. Can highly recommend. And I don't even use PlanetScale or MySQL

  33. I’m really excited to help developers build more on top of the platform. I’ve been helping work on this since last year and glad to release it today! automation, better tooling for databases, and so much more is possible with this.

  36. Ok, this is weird. I’m trying to migrate a Wordpress database from Google Cloud SQL to PlanetScale. I’m using the database import feature. When I point Wordpress at the new database, everything works fine when it’s in replica mode, but if I switch it to primary mode, Wordpress gives me the installation screen instead of the actual site. What gives? #LazyDev #MySQL #PlanetScale #Wordpress
