#Privacy Notices Are Broken—Adaptive #Design Offers a Solution
(https://h-lab.win.kit.edu/4009.php)Another #research summary in #PlainEnglish
Disclaimer: It's #GAI generated, but I kinda like the different take on the knowledge offered. Read the actual article, if you do not like the AI take on it ;)

In #PlainEnglish: almost-universally-loathed rat of an outgoing Prime Minister commits his successor to taking cash from much-needed road and energy projects to buy more overpriced #wartoys through processes that are proven to be complete crap.
Or "you blew the budget on shite toys with runaway costs, so here's billions to do it again".
Even worse: rat's succesor has probably agreed to this, to let the rat take the heat.

When I plug in my USB charger, the phone or laptop says some variation of "TurboPower Charging" "Fast Charging", "Slow Charger Connected". This is very annoying. Why can't the device just show me the negotiated USB wattage, versus the maximum wattage the device supports? If people don't like numbers or scientific units, devices can display charging bars looking vaguely like a mobile signal strength indicator.

This is #MrJusticeBrianCregan's fourth judgment in the #EnochBurke case. #2026IEHC31 https://tinyurl.com/2026-IEHC-31
#CreganJ's judgments have been notable for their directness and clarity. They appear to have written in recognition of the need for clear, #plainEnglish rebuttals of the strategic bombardment of lies from the serially disruptive#BurkeFamily.

The #AbundanceMovement: "#EzraKlein is one of the few regular New York Times opinion columnists, and when he publishes new columns people pay attention. He also hosts a podcast, The #EzraKleinShow, that at writing sits at #11 on Apple Podcasts’ rankings. Derek writes for The Atlantic and hosts his own podcast, #PlainEnglish, for the Ringer. Both men have made appearances on a number of other podcasts, from Bill Simmons to Gavin Newsom and Richard Hanania. As a result, the book is #2 on the Times’ list of bestselling nonfiction books, also placing high on Amazon’s rankings. Given how concerned many left-of-center people are about the next few years, #Abundance and its proposals will be key in the coming debates."

Are #DWP questions deliberately written to be impossible to understand?
It took me a lot of time & effort owing to #medication fog.
Answer yes or no:
Because of your physical or mental health condition or learning disability, there would be a substantial risk to the mental or physical health of any person, including you, if you were found not to have limited capability for work-related activity.

Tip for the academically-inclined who don't want to be accused of elitism:
Just because you say something is a 'fallacy' or a 'tautology' doesn't mean you've won the argument.
On the contrary, you might be trying to hide behind big words because you're scared of losing the argument.

"Partial Evacuation Rescind, Phase 2 residents".
Clearly someone responsible for communications in the Emergency Dept favours jargon over communicating.
-
A "Partial Evacuation Rescind" 🤔
What is the point of emergency broadcasts that are only intelligible to those who know the jargon?
#PlainEnglish is essential in emergency situations @wayemason

I like that a #CharacterLimit forces me to use #PlainEnglish.

Many new people think Mastodon is too complicated. I think that's in part because some of its jargon is obscure.
"Server" = site
"Instance" = site
"Federation" = network
"Fediverse" = network (fancier term)
"Defederate" = block (a site)
"Toot" = post
"Boost" = repostThe "Fediverse" is a bunch of websites, running various software, talking to each other using a common protocol – as with email.
Much "complexity" can be fixed by speaking plain English.

#PlainEnglish summary from Harry Hampel's group on the use of Lumbar Puncture. There are loads of them. Are these like the opposite of @deevybee 's AI Mangleglot sets? Imagine a version for me and a version for the patient and family 😲
