I have been experimenting with Nikon Pixelshift to obtain higher-resolution negative scans.

You can see one of my first efforts at https://glass.photo/tapasinthesun/5aLF892B7MSPqGBJ3sPMZj. The uploaded file is a full-size .jpg. Glass uses minimal compression and processes images to achieve "extremely high quality" with little to no visible compression artefacts.

The master image is a monstrous 156 MB TIF file! This begs the question: Is it worth it?

Digital medium format cameras like the Fujifilm GFX100 can capture photos with 100 megapixels. It can also use pixel shift to create 400 megapixel images by combining 16 photos where the sensor is moved by 0.5 pixels.

The camera of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory telescope has 3,200 megapixels!
