Nadchodzi seria Google Pixel 10. Firma oficjalnie zaprasza na prezentację. Gdzie obejrzeć „Made by Google 2025”?

Google położyło kres plotkom i oficjalnie zapowiedziało swoje kolejne duże wydarzenie sprzętowe. Konferencja „Made by Google 2025” odbędzie się już w najbliższą środę, 20 sierpnia. To właśnie wtedy światło dzienne ujrzy nowa generacja smartfonów z serii Pixel 10. Transmisję z wydarzenia będzie można oglądać na żywo w internecie.

Prezentacja rozpocznie się o godzinie 19:00 czasu polskiego (10:00 PT / 13:00 ET). Jak co roku, Google udostępni oficjalną transmisję na swoim kanale w serwisie YouTube. Będzie to najlepsza okazja, by z pierwszej ręki poznać wszystkie szczegóły dotyczące nie tylko nowych telefonów, ale również innych wyczekiwanych urządzeń z ekosystemu firmy.

Główną gwiazdą wieczoru będzie bez wątpienia cała rodzina smartfonów Pixel 10. Według dotychczasowych przecieków, mamy zobaczyć aż cztery modele: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL oraz zupełnie nowy, składany Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Sercem urządzeń ma być procesor nowej generacji Google Tensor G5.

Podczas konferencji spodziewamy się również premiery innych nowości sprzętowych. Wśród nich najczęściej wymienia się zegarek Pixel Watch 4, który ma otrzymać nowy, magnetyczny system ładowania, a także budżetowe słuchawki Pixel Buds 2a, potencjalnie wzbogacone o aktywną redukcję szumów (ANC). Niektóre źródła sugerują jednak, że dostępność składanego Pixela oraz akcesoriów może być opóźniona aż do października.

I really get in my own head sometimes and just cause havoc. I was determined this morning that I was going to get a OnePlus Open. I have an OG Pixel Fold. I also have an iPhone 16 Pro Max. I have two phones, big whoop ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Google Pixel 6, Pixel 7, and Pixel Fold will get two extra years of OS updates

Google’s latest Pixel smartphones come with a guarantee that they’ll continue to receive operating system and security updates for at least seven years. But that’s only a promise Google has been making for a little over a year, and it only applies to the Pixel 8 and newer phones.

Older models got five years of security updates, but only three years of major OS updates, and some phones like the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a were quickly approaching their last expected major Android OS update. That’s no longer the case though, as Google has updated its support page to indicate that Pixel 6 and newer phones will now get updates for 5 years from the date when they first became available in the US. That means the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series as well as the Pixel Fold will now get new versions of Android for at least two more years than had been promised when the phones were first launched.

Interestingly, that support page used to give actual end of support dates for each Pixel device. Now it just tells you how many years to expect, which means you may need to do a little searching and/or math to figure out the actual end of support for a specific device.

Interestingly Google is not extending support for the Pixel Tablet, which is actually the most recent device listed above. Despite the fact that it was released in June, 2023, the tablet is only guaranteed to receive Android version updates through June, 2026 although it will continue to receive security updates until at least June, 2028.

But maybe that shouldn’t be surprising since rumor has it that Google has decided to scrap development of future Pixel Tablet devices, suggesting that the company doesn’t see much of a future for its current tablet strategy.

Google, could do you a thing where, when we create a second user on our pixel phone, can you let us do the data transfer thing just like we can with our default user? I, along with others use the multiple users function as a data segregated profile but it'd help to set our phones up faster if both of our user setups could have the ability to do the initial data transfer / restoration thing, not just the main user.
