It's an "antimatter for breakfast" kind of morning.
And homemade Guinness beer bread.
And Fibonacci1024.
And #Pixelblaze. -
I made this hyperboloid years ago when LED strings were only available with 10 cm spacing. The old LED string broke, so I restrung it with higher density pixels, and am playing with 3D patterns on the #pixelblaze controller.

Funk This! Now with #PixelBlaze frequency graph. Upgraded to #Adafruit Metro S3 and no more crashes reading directly from larger RAM vs intermittent crashes from SD cards. #CircuitPython gets down! Builds like this on my channel

@tmiller thanks! The #Pixelblaze Sensor Expansion Board by @wizard has a microphone, 3.5mm line-in jack, and a small MCU that handles sampling the input into a 32 frequency bin FFT that you can use in patterns. The javascript patterns can be written and edited live in a web app over wi-fi, hosted on the Pixelblaze's ESP32. It's brilliant in every way.

@xabean ha, I'm so glad you noticed! I spent longer than I care to admit trying to get them perfectly aligned, although I don't think my camera was perfectly "trammed" to the surface.
The two are being driven by separate but synced #Pixelblaze, but the pattern with particles emitting from the center does use RNG which is apparently not synced. -
Such fun giving a seminar on #PixelBlaze to the women of Boston College's Girls Who Code chapter. @wizard your gear continues to inspire & empower. Hack on!

The LED cube's base came out okay. The Pixelblaze fits snugly, and the back panel looks better than it needs to. The printer is still printing the rest of the parts.
All glory to @jasoncoon for designing and manufacturing the LED cube. I'm just designing a new enclosure for it.

Gnarly wiring on the 10x5x5 #PixelBlaze LED cube. I really need to find time to solder this so I don’t need to constantly fix when someone moves this improperly.

This is two fifths of a Fibonacci1024 (slices 2 & 3): 410 WS2812 RGB LEDs, matte black LED acrylic diffuser and wall mounting back plate, 476x303mm (18.7x11.9in), audio-reactive, driven with #Pixelblaze. Let me know if you're interested.

If you haven't seen Meghan & Michelle's #CircuitPython & #PixelBlaze jukebox, it's worth a look. They did a great job using @Adafruit, @RaspberryPi and ElectroMage PixelBlaze boards from @Wizard. I feel so lucky to get to teach and work with these students. And to see them derive such joy from showing off their work is a huge boost in otherwise challenging times https://bsky.app/profile/gallaugher.bsky.social/post/3ma2g6u2huc25

Pixel mapped my friend's tree last night using @themariday 's awesome video-mapping tool and set it up with a #pixelblaze controller

We had so much fun using #PixelBlaze in my PhysicalComputing course this semester. Thanks @wizard for making the awesome! Here are our students delighting in "Eye of Sauron" during our 2x2 LED matrix lesson.

A look at a smidge of the #CircuitPython and #PixelBlaze awesomeness you’ll see tomorrow if you stop by 4-6pm, 12/5, 245 Beacon St, Boston College. Jukebox, real-world Minecraft mining, Squid Game Red/Green light, light-up hopscotch! Plus lots of assistive tech & student #SwiftUI apps. ALL welcome! Be there!

Considering options for volumetric LED cube. Am trying to straighten pebble lights in these tubes. There is a back channel signal wire currently superglued & I pulled this through with a thread. Thoughts on support to glue lights to & straighten? Grateful for technique & material ideas. #leds #neopixel #pixelblaze

Finished the laser cut acrylic diffuser and XY map for Fibonacci Infinity Tile 0. Here it's being driven by a #Pixelblaze by @wizard, running the Honeycomb pattern.
Waiting on translucent acrylic hardware, should get rid of the black dots. -
@JamesAkers thank you! #Pixelblaze by @wizard makes this stuff too easy. 😁

Whoa! What a Saturday at Maker Faire Bay Area! We were so busy all day that I never got a chance to post anything! Here’s what our booth looks like, we’ll be there one more day, tomorrow (Sunday) until 5pm!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by, I’ve had so many great convos and seen so many fun things! We’ve already sold out of a few Glowie shapes and the @wizard Pixelblaze Beautiful Box Kit!

I'm continuing to learn PixelBlaze, so do let me know if I have things wrong, but if it's useful, here's another @wizard #Pixelblaze lesson I've created for my class - this one showing how to identify the wiring pattern of LED Matricies & modify the Multiple Panel Matrix mapper to work with the identified setup. Comments welcome (be kind): https://youtu.be/WLiloSgWp2g

Any tips on keeping track of individual #PixelBlaze boards? I'll have 40 for class. It'd be nice to somehow mark each with the name so they can be easily matched up with what shows up in discover.

@jasoncoon recently posted a cube shader that runs colorwaves around the cube's perimeter. I tried expanding that to three nesting cubes.
This color scheme is a throwaway, but I tried a spatial dither to smooth the hue changes at low brightness. There are interesting possibilities to explore there.

@jasoncoon I have sad news. My LED cube's power supply died. It supplies 2-3V now, and the ESP32 reboots constantly.
I have great news! I hooked it up to a bench supply and it runs fine. With all 512 LEDs at 100% white, I measured 13.08A. So I'm ordering a new 15A power brick from the piranha retailer now.
-
@jasoncoon I'm finally getting into writing shaders for my PixelBlaze/Evil Genius Labs LED cube. I call this one Bubble Phi. It uses the R₂ low discrepancy sequence to pick the colors, thanks to @mbr for showing it to me. (I've used R₁ color sequences in other projects.)

We have success, Ladies & Germs!
Forest finally let me finish the tree!
And it's still Xmas! 🎄🎅
I haven't even mapped it yet and it looks pretty good! I'm happy!
But mapping it will be a fun exercise. (he says confidently with both shoes tied together)

Any C/C++ wizards looking for a project? I'd be willing to pay for WS2816 support to be added to #FastLED.
#PixelBlaze supports them but I do still use FastLED with the QT Py SAMD21.
I can provide PCBs with the LEDs already assembled.
They're 48-bit color (16 per channel), but FastLED support for them would need to be 24-bit (8 per channel).
WS2816 Datasheet: https://www.lcsc.com/datasheet/lcsc_datasheet_2412021803_Worldsemi-WS2816C-2121_C965561.pdf
Here's a whole thread where I compare them to WS2812 and SK9822: https://leds.social/@jasoncoon/111575637982422573 -
