Leute, ich verzweifel gerade.
Ich möchte auf meinem alten google #Pixel6a das #BlueJay wieder aufspielen und das Gerät dann veräußern. Ich hänge nun seit Stunden daran irgendwie das ans Laufen zu bekommen.

Versucht habe ich den Webinstaller und der meint, er findet keine Verbindung zum Gerät.

Dann habe ich versucht das über Sideload zu machen, da passiert aber gar nichts.

Bin ich zu doof oder wurde da was geändert?

Ich bin auf #Linux #Mint unterwegs.

Dropped my phone in the work carpark Friday arvo. Cracked screen. Popped into two repair places on the way home. The second guy laughed and said "Get a new phone" because the cost of repair isn't feasible due to my phone's age/value (Pixel 6a).

Somewhere in here there's a joke about the latest Pixel Drop that I can't bring myself to make

After upgrading my #Pixel6a from #LineageOS 23 to LineageOS 23.2, I am unable to obtain #root using the usual method via #Magisk. It results in trying to boot to fall back to fastboot mode.

I am thinking of downgrading to LineageOS 23, but that will involve losing the data partition and thus having to reconfigure the whole device.

Any ideas are welcome about how to overcome this issue. 🙏

Shout-out @iFixit for their wonderful #pixel6a battery replacement kit and instructions.

My wife's phone was one of those that google throttled down because of problematic batteries.

I bought the kit from #ifixit, and, following their step by step instructions, I was able to open the phone, remove the battery, stick in the new battery, and put everything together (the shaped glue tape is fantastic). It took 2-3 hours, not easy, I have to say.

And it works, which I doubted until the end (because of low trust in my abilities, not quality of stuff)

My phone instead is a Fairphone 4... Battery replacement is... 1 minute. I can probably do it with 1 hand, blindfolded 😁

Anyone interested in #Pixel6a with #GrapheneOS pre-installed? I'm selling mine for 2500 CZK (€100) + shipping.

If you'd like to try GrapheneOS on something cheaper before committing to it with a more expensive phone, this is a great option. It's what I did and happily used the phone for almost a year. It has a surprisingly good camera for the price.

Пускаю клич по всему феди
На руках есть pixel 6a. Прошлый владелец вероятно не зарядил телефон при ота обновлении и он брикнулся. Есть cow партиции, они не пустые, б слот анбутабл, а слот на котором сейчас не загружается конечно же из-за коррупт системы. Ни рескью ни рекавери не работает конечно, загрузчик залочен.

Может у кого есть опыт по анбрику? Пиксель анлок тул был как вариант но он схлопнулся...

Sending a shout-out to the Fedi. I have a Pixel 6a on hands. The previous owner likely didn't charge the phone during an OTA update, so it bricked. There are COW partitions present and not empty, slot B is unbootable, and the current slot A won't load, obviously due to system corruption. Neither Rescue nor Recovery works, of course, and the bootloader is locked. Does anyone have unbricking experience with this? Pixel Unlock Tool was an option, but it’s dead now...

Dort findet man auch einen Link zu einer weiteren Seite, wo man anhand der IMEI testen kann, ob das eigene Pixel 6a betroffen ist. Leider muss man sich mit einem Google-Konto anmelden.

Glücklicherweise scheint mein Gerät nicht betroffen zu sein. 😌

They've just given us a third option, which is a free repair. I stuck with Option 2. I've already had my battery fixed by a third party repairer and this payment more than covers it. Happy days.

Hoy, en cosas que me han pasado este verano: móvil nuevo.

Resulta que fui uno de esos "afortunados" a los que le tocó uno de esos móviles que pueden explotar cuando les cargas: un Pixel 6a defectuoso. Yo ya sospechaba que le pasaba algo desde que lo compré, a través de la tienda de Google (este detalle es importante), porque se calentaba demasiado al usar el GPS o al hacer videollamadas, por ejemplo.

Google me envió un correo en el que me decía básicamente que reconocían el fallo, y me daban la siguiente "solución" en tres sencillos pasos:

1 - Lanzarían una actualización del firmware para evitar que la batería se recalentase y que pudiera explotar durante la carga. A cambio la batería reduciría notablemente su velocidad de carga y, sobre todo (lo peor) su capacidad total.

2 - Me recomendaban cambiar de batería y, me decían, además que "algunos clientes pueden optar por un cambio de batería gratuito, según la ubicación y la disponibilidad", lo cual tampoco me daba mucha garantía, pero estaba bien saberlo.

3 - Me ofrecían la posibilidad de cambiar mi móvil por otro Pixel con un descuento adicional de 150$ (convertidos a euros) o... Recibir un pago de 452$ sin tener que comprarle un móvil nuevo a Google. Difícil decisión, ¿verdad? 😜

I upgraded my phone, from a #pixel6a to a #pixel9a. I'm surprised still how difficult the OS and apps make these transitions:
- Forgotten notification sounds and alarms
- App notification preferences
- Applications that don't persist their settings and data - ugh!
- Wifi, Google Wallet cards, etc

Kudos to app devs who take care of this. Like the 2FA #Aegis app and the rShopping List app - seamless.
