  1. A swing and a miss for human Wine Carrier and Whine dispenser, US Atty J. #Pirro, who again was slapped down by a federal judge. It’s like tv personalities didn’t really study law, or something.

District Judge James #Boasberg excoriated the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington, D.C. for the case against #Powell, calling it political persecution aimed at pressuring the Fed chair to lower interest rates or quit.

“Did prosecutors issue those subpoenas for a proper purpose? The Court finds that they did not,” Boasberg wrote in a decision unsealed Friday. “There is abundant evidence that the subpoenas’ dominant (if not sole) purpose is to harass and pressure Powell either to yield to the President or to resign and make way for a Fed Chair who will.”

“On the other side of the scale,” Boasberg continued, “the Government has offered no evidence whatsoever that Powell committed any crime other than displeasing the president.”

  6. Observers have spent two weeks trying to discern the “aims” of Trump’s war on Iran,
and therefore what might constitute a victory or defeat.

His every bizarre utterance about his war “plans”
    — including wildly conflicting declarations that Iran has surrendered and the war must be expanded to defeat the regime
    — immediately move markets.

The evident fact, though, is that Trump is completely nuts, and that he’s “governing” the country
    — and has now taken the US to war
    — based on his impulses alone,
without even the pretense of a strategy or goal.

    “Governance” by impulse":

It’s a frightening reality of the Trump regime that,
as Trump has descended into utter incoherence and is now nothing more than an assortment of adolescent
    (and frequently violent) urges,
the US government has been remade into a tool for the immediate satisfaction of his wants and desires
no matter how absurd or nihilistic they may be.

We’ve seen this dynamic of chaos descend upon various components of our government and society over the past 14 months.

🔸First, under the “leadership” of stooge Pam #Bondi, the United States Department of Justice has been transformed from a law enforcement agency into a mechanism for carrying out whatever vendetta happens to be at the front of Trump’s raging mind at a given moment.

Bondi and other stooges, like “Judge” Jeanine #Pirro, understand they can hope to retain their positions only if,
    and for so long as,
they pursue every baseless charge Trump demands a given moment,
whether that be against a former FBI director, a Fed governor, or a voting machine company.

The result is a DOJ that has descended into utter dysfunction in nearly every respect,
has lost its mission critical asset of credibility before the courts,
and survives largely as a means for Trump to express his ire.

🔸Second, the Department of Homeland Security’s “mass deportation” scheme
    — and the huge and growing internal militia created to effectuate it
    — rapidly became a more dramatic venue for Trump to give effect to his disordered and sadistic impulses.

Trump has long expressed a visceral desire to foment violence between city residents and police.

His deep attraction to such chaos and destruction was perhaps best expressed in a May 2020 tweet
    — posted in the midst of the unrest in Minneapolis that followed George Floyd’s slow strangulation
    — that declared
“when the looting starts, the shooting starts.”

(It was properly flagged for glorifying violence.)

  11. #Bondi is a real monster

She is not simply a corrupt or fanatically politicized person
    She's a disgusting, revolting person
totally devoid of morals or ethics.
To think that she is 'protected' by her institutional position is staggering.
    Characters like #Patel #Hegseth #Pirro #Rubio... are just Trump's 'useful idiots'
    but #Bondi ... is a real monster.
All this people give a clear measure of how rotten the #US Government is become
and why #US should be ostracized internationally.

  15. Donald Trump is borrowing a strategy from authoritarian regimes to #intimidate potential critics and #discourage them from speaking out, according to a senator under investigation by his administration.

#Elissa #Slotkin, a Democrat from Michigan, faces questioning after she organised and appeared in a #video with other Democrats imploring military service members to #refuse#illegal #orders”.

Fellow senator #Mark #Kelly and three Democrats from the House of Representatives are also being investigated.

To Slotkin, a former analyst with the Central Intelligence Agency ( #CIA ), it is a deliberate effort to chill free speech that rhymes with her experience of #dictatorships around the world.

“They’re now using a well-worn playbook that employs #physical intimidation and #legal intimidation to get,
A, you to shut up, and
B, for other people thinking of criticising the president on such issues to be dissuaded from doing so,”
she told the Guardian in a phone interview.

“It’s absolutely a strategy well used in other countries and other authoritarian governments.

As a CIA officer I’ve served in places like this,
I’ve studied places like this my entire life,
and Trump is sadly using that #playbook in the United States right now.”

Now 49, Slotkin completed three tours in Iraq with the US military before moving into national security roles at the Pentagon and White House under presidents George W Bush and Barack Obama.

In 2018 she turned to electoral politics, winning a long-held Republican seat in #Michigan and helping Democrats reclaim control of the House.

She secured re-election in 2020 and 2022, campaigning on issues such as access to affordable healthcare and efforts to bring manufacturing back to her home state.

Her ascent continued in 2024 when she won an open Senate seat despite Trump carrying Michigan in the presidential election.

Last year she delivered the Democrats’ rebuttal to Trump’s joint congressional address.

Then in November she was among six congressional Democrats,
all with military or intelligence backgrounds,
who in a 90-second video cited the "Uniform Code of Military Justice"
and said no one has to carry out orders that violate the law or constitution.

#Trump branded the video message “treasonous” and amplified a social media post suggesting that the six Democrats be #hanged.

Defence secretary Pete #Hegseth is attempting to #retroactively #demote Kelly,
a former navy pilot and astronaut,
from his retired rank of captain.

👏The Arizona senator is suing Hegseth to block those proceedings,
calling them an unconstitutional act of retribution.

Meanwhile US attorney #Jeanine #Pirro, the justice department’s chief prosecutor in Washington, has requested an interview with Slotkin.

👏The Arizona senator is suing Hegseth to block those proceedings,
calling them an unconstitutional act of retribution.

promise of money is the only plausible explanation
