How to build and configure a custom Linux image for the Raspberry Pi 5 using Buildroot.
“This process not only gives you a deeper understanding of embedded systems, but also provides you with a powerful, customizable environment tailored to your needs.”

Setup -> I have a #RaspberryPi #RaspberryPiZero2W running #linux #pios #RaspberryPiOS #headless
Aim: I want the pi to always offer a #hotspot #wifihotspot on #boot
based on the commandnmcli device wifi hotspot ssid pizerohotspot password my_password
Is this below a bad solution ?? -> I came up with this solution in the link below using a .service but fear it shows I am clueless? Is there a better way? Thanks!

#linux Say I have this python program that runs on a #RaspberryPi 4 using #pios and is installed as shown here: http://loramesh.org/subpages/pi_install.html
using the commands shown in image and alt text.What other single board computers #sbc would this also run on ? What linux OS would work also on those boards? Would it run on any #debian based #linuxdistro ?

I have updated my Automatic AccessPoint script.
Network at home & AccessPoint when you are out.
"AccessPopup" on the #raspberrypi so that it now works on #archlinux arm for Pi4 as well as the #Ubuntu Pi Image and #PiOS Bookworm. Will probably work on other systems but not tested yet. Needs NetworkManager but i also have a different script for the older PiOS -
#Create3-WaLi (my "Wallfollower Looking for Intelligence" #robot) became truly #autonomous today. When he wakes up he starts being WaLi without my help. (#ROS2 #Humble in #Docker on #RaspberryPi5 #PiOS #Bookworm)
He doesn't use much of his existing intelligence yet, but he knows when to get off his dock (battery > 99%), when to prepare for re-docking (battery < 20%), when (battery < 15%) and how to dock.
He also knows how to use his "lowly" IR intensity sensors as a make-shift #LIDAR.

WOW WOW WOW!!!
#RaspberryPi5 with #PiOS #Bookworm automatically configured my USB speaker!!!
Since it doesn't have an audio jack, I was expecting to have to learn how to remap all the audio from default HDMI, but someone at @[email protected] was thinking about my "headless" use case.
sudo apt install espeak-ng
espeak-ng "hello, can you hear me now?"and it just works.
I love #RaspberryPi5

@_DigitalWriter_ Vielen Dank fürs Teilen!
https://github.com/nextcloud/desktop/issues/1011#issuecomment-481781803
Oder ist die einfach zu bewältigende aber für Einsteiger:innen unnötige Barriere mittlerweile vielleicht sogar im Core gelöst @nextcloud? 😊🙏

@box464 Do they have a 64 bit user land option yet? I'm running #Ubuntu on mine so they can run #docker and #kubernetes, so I've never had the pleasure of using #pios

Are you sure you need that much memory?
This is my #robot's available memory over the last three years - It rarely goes over 400MB used out of 800MB free, 200MB for #PiOS and #Python programs.
Robot does speech recognition, health monitoring, battery management, weather reports, and navigation planning in that 400MB. (Mostly the speech reco.)
