TIL: die US privat-Polizei #Pinkerton, die im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert ihre Hauptaufgabe im #UnionBusting fand - also der gewaltsamen Zerschlagung von Gewerkschaften und Streiks (gerne auch direkt mit Schlägertrupps. Sie hatten zeitweise mehr Personal in ihrer Miliz als zeitgleich das US-Militär)
…wurde dann von der sonst auch schon so "sympathischen" Securitas AB gekauft und auch unter dieser "Traditionsmarke" weiterbetrieben.

2016 U.S. Remastered ReissueA little High School senior year sentimentality for last spin of the night.
THIS is where my love for Weezer ends.Seriously. It’s unfathomable to me why anybody would need (or want to listen to) anything other than their first two records.
They STILL sound so unbelievably good. After the band “lost” Matt Sharp, they lost a significant part of what made the first two albums great.
“Tired Of Sex” and “Getchoo” might be the most badass opening 1-2 punch of any record of the #90s .
As much as I love and adore Pinkerton, I could never put it over the Blue Album.
That record was one of those right place, right time lightning in a bottle-type records for me as a kid.

Anti-Irish nativist gangs, like New York’s Bowery Boys, and Baltimore’s Plug Uglies carried out pogroms in Irish communities.
These gangs often affiliated with political parties like the No Nothings and the Republicans.
Irish gangs, affiliated with the Democratic Party, began to form for self-defense.
At least twenty people died in anti-Irish riots in Philadelphia in 1844.

Irish Origins of the Myth of the Molly Maguires
According to legend, there was a widow living in Ireland in the 1840s named Molly Maguire,
who hated the landlords who were abusing the poor tenant farmers.She supposedly carried a pistol strapped to each thigh.
She, or her followers, would beat or murder the tyrannical landlords, their agents, and bailiffs, whenever they tried to evict a tenant.
No one knows if she ever really existed, but other tenant farmer activists were said to cry out,
“Take that from a son of Molly Maguire!” when protesting against unscrupulous landlords.@MikeDunnAuthor

and who provided the plans and weapons the men purportedly used in their crimes,
