NOOT, NOOT!

On 28 May 1986, the first episode, 'Pingu: A Story for Preschool Children" of the later same named Swiss stop-motion claymation children's show was produced.

Still voiced by creator Otmar Gutmann himself, Pingu's now iconic "noot-noot" sound was made by a kazoo for the pilot, that would be first shown at the Berlinale 1987, winning the Kleiner Bär award.

Over the following decades, 'Pingu' would be broadcast in more than 150 countries around the world.

Robin Redesign 12026(Subject for revision)

Fuck the awkward carousel on bluesky, reuploading my subject to revision pinned post on wafrn to take advantage of the nonexistent image limit.

At first it was gonna be a human-fox hybrid version of the previous design, but I had the idea of a facemask with a pingu design with a fake mouth animated in the style of the tv show to show emotion so I won't have to be animated with my hands all over the place.

I keep stumbling across #Pingu merch, a claymation show I enjoyed in the 90s between other shows on Canadian TV. It lacks dialog (just Noot), so it would have been an easy show to air anywhere in the world. Assuming you also grew up with the angry Noot, when and where did you watch it?

With their waddling gait, short legs, and slow walk, bestial human penguins are considered quite comical, and because of this they have little difficulty being accepted into many human communities, though they may find themselves figures of fun in these. So.. I could release #PingU - the IoT GPS tracker app for #iOS I've been working on for the past weeks but there's a regression in #SwiftData for iOS18 and 18.1 beta that prevents it from properly working with #SwitfUI and as a result the user doesn't actually see most UI updates caused by location changes until they either reopen the app or navigate around between views.

And I refuse to release the app in this state :ac_distress:

I'm also not alone in having these issues either, a lot of people are discussing it on the developer forums and are filing - as of now unaddressed - Feedback reports.

It's a stupid situation because otherwise things are working really well (and with next to no battery impact) and I've been using PingU as a replacement for #HomeAssistant's location tracking as well as GPSLogger's hooks feature for the past weeks now.
