This #pine locate in the eastern #SierraNevada #Mountains in #Nevada (elev. about 8,00 ft / 2,500 m ) with what I think are the male cones (strobili). Not sure what kind of pine it is but it is very appealing. 🌲

Intraspecific variability of #serotiny in #Pinus #banksiana
Rear-edge populations (with low #fire frequency) are less serotinous & more variably than range-core #fireprone pops where serotiny is more uniformly high, by Pelletier et al https://besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/1365-2745.14041 #JEcol
That is, results for Pinus banksiana (#boreal) are quite similar to those for P. #halepensis & P. #pinaster (#mediterranean species).
