Tip #850

Long-press on a video in Vivaldi on Android to open it in a pop-out video player.

Picture-in-picture (PiP) displays a video in a small floating window, allowing you to multitask across tabs or apps while it continues playing.

There are a few ways to enable Picture-in-Picture in Vivaldi on Android. Some video players have a special button for PiP, in full screen mode you can go to the home screen to trigger the PiP video player, but on many websites, there’s also a third option.

To open a PiP window from a context menu:

1. Long-press on the video.
2. Select “Picture-in-Picture”.

FYI: YouTube picture-in-picture goes global, but music stays behind a paywall: YouTube today expands picture-in-picture to non-Premium users outside the US on Android and iOS, ending a geographic restriction. Music PiP stays Premium-only. https://ppc.land/youtube-picture-in-picture-goes-global-but-music-stays-behind-a-paywall/ #YouTube #PictureInPicture #Streaming #Music #TechNews

YouTube macht Picture-in-Picture kostenlos. Fast.

So ive been messing around with dbus trying to make it so my videos play in the corner over minecraft without issue...
That's been complicated.
Basically i right click "always on top" once for an instance of a video player but then when the window is closed and reopened it needs to be redone. So im using dbus to send a signal to the window which is a lot more complicated then it sounds...
With the help of my dad tonight I have round out that Mutter is sorta not installed correctly or something...
And even when I fix everything I'm not sure that its gonna work...
So I think what I need to do that may be more likely to work is to make a javascript web page that keeps the video player open so I just right click it to be always on top once and move it around and resize it as I like...
I think that will work...
Maybe less likely to break my system.
I think I need to open it up and put a second ssd because im running out of space and can't update...

Who knew the secret to surviving a spreadsheet was a tiny pop-out video in the corner? Who says you can’t work and watch at the same time? 🤷 📊
