When I build projects that involve hardware, the outcome is usually ugly af (remember my “bomb edition” #PicoGopher?). I think the reason is me always going for the quickest and dirtiest solution until the result looks like a mix of the inventions of the protagonist’s dad in Gremlins and those by Data from the Goonies. This BTW is probably the worst-looking one (courtesy of “La focaccia del marinaio” which provided the plastic scaffolding)

Well, I already started playing with it but mostly because I was interested in understanding LoRa’s capabilities… I have been playing with offline-first, self-hosted, low power servers with #PicoGopher some time ago and I always wondered whether it’d be possible to sync small websites or gopherholes with it.

This weekend I played with PG's gemini plugin so I could serve gwit sites while offline. I relied on solderpunk's GeGoBi (https://tildegit.org/solderpunk/gegobi) for the gemini server implementation, as I liked the idea of it being able to seamlessly serve gopherholes too 💙
Due to pico restrictions + lack of libs I had to simplify it quite a bit, but gemini seems easier to serve than gopher (if we ignore SSL...🤦‍♂️ which works great now!)

- finish reading #homeland
- do some indoor bouldering
- play #turingcomplete
- play #projectzomboid

What I actually did:

- an as beautiful as unplanned trip to Cliveden House and Windsor
- a bouldering session
- read Homeland (far from finishing it though!)
- read quite a lot of #manga
- took two loooong baths
- ate one Magnum (required for the brachiograph)

The more I think about what the best next step for #PicoGopher could be, the more I believe implementing some decentralised protocol to exchange info would be super useful: what is more decentralised than a bunch of personal servers people can physically bring around with them? 🙂

For this reason, I find any effort into implementing parts of #ActivityPub on small devices super interesting!

The more I think about what the best next step for #PicoGopher could be, the more I believe implementing some decentralised protocol to exchange info would be super useful: what is more decentralised than a bunch of personal servers people can physically bring around with them? 🙂
