Does anyone's family out there have a pickled eggs recipe I should try? #food

Our chickens have been reliable layers. We've water glassed the excess but we have too many eggs in that basket. It's time for something else.

Not much achieving today, but I have at least restocked the pickled eggs so that DW can have her cold lunch while I have my hot noodle soups.

Edit: Since people are interested: the mixture is 2 cups of cider vinegar to 1 cup of water, with ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon mustard seeds, and a small amount of sliced onion, just brought to a boil. Eggs into jar, pepper ground over it, hot mixture poured onto eggs (not glass!) and lid on. Or add your own herbs / spices to suit.

Into the fridge when the jar has cooled, or even leave it on the bench in cool weather.

When I go to the discount store, and see pickled eggs, I just can't resist my trans-Atlantic urges!

We grew up eating these at xmas time in the UK, and I guess it's another thing that doesn’t seem to have transplanted nearly so well in the US.

Wollt ihr mal mit was anderem auf dem Ostertisch überraschen? Wie wäre es mit Chinese Marbled Eggs aka Chinesische Gewürzeier aka Chinese Tea Leaf Eggs? Diese Gewürzeier werden in einem Sud aus Tee, Gewürzen und Sojasauce eingeleg. Die Gewürzeier sind übrigens ganzjährig beliebtes Streetfood und schmecken genau so gut im Herbst oder Winter wie jetzt. 😅

Here's the result of Eggs in a Nest, eggs pickled in red sauerkraut. They're pink! 🩷

I'll be making deviled eggs out of these today. The only difference from regular eggs is that I don't season the yolks with quite so much salt since the whites are nicely seasoned already.
