  3. @DavittoKun @landley Granted, @Raspberry_Pi 's goals are different than mine and those goals are valid too.

You can't have #TechLiteracy by the masses if they never get #tech they can tinker and learn with...

#RaspberryPi basically dominate the #ARM & #ARM64-based SBC market because every competitior just solders some silicon on a board and thows it on the wall with neither good #Documentation nor #Support, letting customers to "fuck around and find out" instead, which is exciting for a few but a complete disregard to the value of time of the buyers for everyone who needs to make it go brrr.

There's a reason the #BananaPi0M2 was never scalped, because Software makes OSes and OSes make Hardware!

Whereas the #Pi0 / #Pi0W & #Pi0W2 - whilst being proprietary in nature, are easy to integrate and develop for with free, excellent documentation and a vendor that actually gives a shit!

Thus it would be stupid *NOT* to target their boards woth OS/1337!

    Sorry if I seem a bit nasty-worded...

  9. @paulrickards I assume something based on the @Raspberry_Pi #PiPico / #RP2040 with a matching #Ethernet-HAT would be able to to it.

Espechally since that #uC is easy to obtain and relatively cheap (compared to a #Pi0 / #Pi0W which were used for the #DreamPi #Dialup adaptor and are still not widely available at #MSRP)...

The tricky part would be #Firmware, not #Hardware....

  12. @landley That being said the #Pi0W and #Pi0W2 can be run with batteries and there are HATs to do so.

But I giess we both agree that this is even less elegant than me shoving a Keyboard on a crappy smartphone m amd the only reason to target the #Pi0 is because code that runs on it will run on all other #RaspberryPi #SBCs and almost all clones with no changes.

Not optimal OFC, but it'll run...

  15. @makerbymistake @Raspberry_Pi Needless to say for most of my Projects I'd be glad if even the #Pi02W or #Pi0 v1.3 was decently available or ideally the #CM3plusLite and #CM4lite

After all, #RaspberryPi #CM4's are extremely common since they have what all their #clones and #competitors lack:

    EXCELLENT DOCUMENTATION!

Even if the #BananaPi #BPi0M2 should wipe the floor with the #Pi0W / #Pi0 even #IT professors can't get it to work in any other mode than 720p60...
