Social pain both facilitates & inhibits physical pain
Researchers observed a paradoxical effect of #socialpain on physical pain, i.e., facilitation & inhibition of physical pain. Social rejection by one's romantic partner facilitated the perception of #physicalpain when individuals were not focused on their social pain & inhibited the perception of physical pain when individuals were focused on their social pain.

I feel like crap on a stick. My own fault, but still suffering. I even paid for the pleasure at a private hospital. I want to talk, but I hardly have the strength to breathe. This is when I feel the most lonely as a chronic pain sufferers, those days when you desperately need companionship, but can't handle it.
