La visite a révélé des conditions de détention inhumaines notamment une surpopulation extrême, une hygiène calamiteuse, des restrictions alimentaires et la propagation de la gale sans traitement adéquat.
Il a également été constaté que les détenus sont soumis à de brèves audiences ne durant que quelques minutes, leur détention étant plusieurs fois prolongée sans inculpation claire.
Après 500 jours, le Dr Abu Safyia aurait aussi besoin de nouvelles lunettes, les siennes lui ayant été confisquées.

Israeli physicians group say GHF must be removed from Gaza
Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI) said the continued presence of the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) endangers Palestinian lives.
Castigating the GHF’s methods after at least 19 people were crushed to death at one of its food distribution sites on Wednesday in the south of Gaza, the Israeli physicians group said:

Israeli physicians group say GHF must be removed from Gaza
Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI) said the continued presence of the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) endangers Palestinian lives.
Castigating the GHF’s methods after at least 19 people were crushed to death at one of its food distribution sites on Wednesday in the south of Gaza, the Israeli physicians group said:

Vandaag weigerden de Israëlische autoriteiten een reddingsteam toe te laten tot het Tel Al-Sultan gebied om te zoeken naar de vermiste bemanningsleden,’ berichtte de Palestijnse Rode Halve Maan, een afdeling van het Internationale Rode Kruis, zaterdag op X.
‘Wij veroordelen de opzettelijke belemmering van de zoekinspanningen door Israël en houden het volledig verantwoordelijk voor het leven van onze teamleden. Eerste rapporten van de bemanning ten tijde van het incident bevestigden dat ze onder zwaar geweervuur van Israëlische troepen kwamen te liggen, met meerdere gewonden tot gevolg,’ aldus het bericht. ‘We roepen de internationale gemeenschap op om druk uit te oefenen op de Israëlische autoriteiten om het lot van de vermiste teams bekend te maken. We dringen er ook bij de internationale gemeenschap en de ondertekenaars van de Verdragen van Genève op aan om dringende en concrete stappen te ondernemen om de bescherming van medisch personeel te garanderen.’
Verdwenen
In totaal zijn 14 medici en personeel van de Civiele Verdediging verdwenen, volgens Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI), een rechtengroep bestaande uit Israëlische artsen, met als missie: Wij geloven dat ALLE mensen het Recht op Gezondheid hebben en daar zullen we voor vechten. ‘Sinds oktober 2023 zijn er honderden gedocumenteerde aanvallen geweest op Palestijns medisch personeel: ten minste 500 werden gedood en meer dan tweehonderd gearresteerd. Deze aanvallen weerspiegelen een systematisch Israëlisch beleid gericht tegen gezondheidswerkers, met meer dan 200 nog steeds in Israëlische gevangenschap,’ zei PHRI zaterdag in een bericht op X.
Op vrijdag zei de Palestijnse Rode Halve Maan dat ze de vier ambulances hadden gevonden waaraan de vermiste media waren gekoppeld. Ze waren vernietigd en begraven in zand, aldus een bericht op X van de groep. De Internationale Federatie van Rode Kruis- en Rode Halve Maanverenigingen (IFRC) zegt dat ze achter de Palestijnse Rode Halve Maan staat en oproept tot dringende toegang en informatie na de zeven dagen stilte over het lot van de negen medici in Gaza.
‘De IFRC maakt zich ernstige zorgen over de ambulanceteams van de Palestijnse Rode Halve Maan die in de vroege uren van 23 maart onder zwaar geweervuur kwamen te liggen in de wijk Al-Hashashin in Rafah. Sindsdien is er geen communicatie meer geweest met de teams,’ aldus een zaterdag uitgegeven verklaring. ‘Het internationaal humanitair recht stelt duidelijk dat humanitaire hulpverleners en gezondheidswerkers beschermd en gerespecteerd moeten worden. Het is van vitaal belang dat er informatie en toegang is om ervoor te zorgen dat deze humanitaire hulpverleners veilig kunnen terugkeren naar hun families, die in een nachtmerrie leven zonder te weten of hun geliefden nog in leven zijn,’ aldus de verklaring van de Internationale Federatie van het Rode Kruis.
