Was tasked with inspecting a broken microSD card, apparently unresponsive, tonight.

Plugging in didn't do much, checking partitions with several tools indicated conflicting results (FAT32 or none). dosfck said "Logical sector size (29516 bytes) is not a multiple of the physical sector size."

I eventually successfully recovered the (worthless) underlying stored files via photorec, but the card itself is doomed, won't accept reformatting. RIP.

Muita discussão interessante rolando no fidigerson e eu... há três dias tentando recuperar um arquivo. :angery:
Provavelmente a parte de recuperar é a mais simples. O difícil é encontrar o diacho do arquivo numa montanha de arquivinhos... Fiz logo um script shell pq a quantidade tá brutal.

Status update: running gparted data recovery on the mini #Debian file server produced no results after 8 days. Now I am running #Testdisk on the mini server with one of the drives and #Photorec running on my main pc with the other drive.

Hopefully this will save a handful of my picture folders that I did not back up elsewhere.

Le voleur avait utilisé l’appareil photo, photorec a permis de récupérer des photos impliquant d'autres personnes dans un vol de grande envergure.

Woops, deleted the wrong file, heres some file recovery tips.... the 2nd one i wish i found MUCH sooner.

i tried both #PhotoRec and ext4magic.

PhotoRec seems more suited to files with header types that can be detected easily, like images. it seems that if youve lost a text file with bits of what look like binary in them, you may not find it with PhotoRec, but do try it if desperate. PhotoRec is part of the #testdisk package.

wow, #PhotoRec 7.2 is impressive -- no mess, no fuss just pulled out the files from the bad #smartmedia card.

A shout-out to the fine folk that build the #opensource #PhotoRec app. A bug in Apple's Image Capture app deleted 99 of my photos from an SD card without downloading them. I just used PhotoRec in the Terminal to recover them all.

Phew!

#PhotoRec is part of #TestDisk. If you've got homebrew, you can install PhotoRec with "brew install testdisk" in the Terminal.

Mit #gddrescue über Tage (na gut, 2 Tage) ein Image der sterbenden HDD geschrieben, seit wenigen Minuten traue ich mich an die Wiederherstellung mit #photorec, das man, großartigerweise, auch auf images anwenden kann.
Das Ergebnis sieht jetzt schon sehr sehr sexy aus.
Hoffentlich finde ich noch einige Schätze.
